They were married on 29th August 1834 in Boston Lincolnshire England

James, Deborah and the family arrived at Port Adelaide South Australia on 3rd April 1849, travelling on the barque "William Watson"

In 1881 / 1882 they were living in Buxton Street North Adelaide North Adelaide

James died 1st July 1882 and Deborah died 12th July 1850, and both deaths occurred in Adelaide South Australia
James was buried in the Hindmarsh Cemetery (?)

They raised eight children

William was born in about 1790 in Walpole St Peters Norfolk England and Elizabeth was born about 1793 in Walpole St Peters Norfolk England

They were married at St Andrews Church in Norfolk England around the 25th March 1813

William died during 1869 and Elizabeth during 1871

They raised nine children (eight listed below)
Robert - born 22nd October 1815 - died 22nd December 1886
Mary Ann - born 1817 - died 1863
Charlotte - born 1819 - died 1900
Jemima - born 1820 - died 1902
Hannah - born 1821 - died 1857
Harriet - born 1825 - died 1896

John Watford and Sarah Gavins

John was born on 12th August 1787 (christened on 12th October 1787) and Sarah was born on 10th May 1790, both in Kingscripton Huntington England - and a note here to mention that the Census form below gives different places of birth

They married on 24th October 1814

It appears the couple were Inkeepers in the latter part of there lives
This is mentioned in the 1871 Census and John was eighty-two and Sarah was seventy-four years old !!
The address of the "Lion Inn" was 66 Germain Street Huntingdon England

They raised one known child
NOTE
- actually there are twelve children altogether !! - Isabella is the eldest daughter
Isabella - born 5th August 1815 - died 11th March 1886

John Knowles and Maria Shattock (Shaddock)

John was born circa 1803 and Maria was born circa 1825

John arrived at Port Adelaide on 23rd August 1849 with his first wife who died
They travelled from England on the barque "Hydaspes"

John, at age 53, married Maria Shattock at St Johns Church Halifax Street Adelaide South Australia on 17th February 1856 by Mr Russell a full Minister

John worked as a carpenter

John died 11th February 1873 at Watervale South Australia
Maria died 15th March 1886 at Malvern South Australia

Their children
Arthur
- born 4th March 1857 at Watervale South Australia - died 13th June 1902

David was christened on 5th May 1836 in Long Sutton Lincolnshire England and Margaret was on 4th May 1832 in Portsmouth England

Margaret, her mother, and brother George Wadmore travelled to Australia on the ship "John Woodhall" in 1849 - David's family arrived at Port Adelaide a few months later on the "William Watson"

They married 27th June 1857 in Happy Valley South Australia at the residence of John Strong by the Reverend AH Phelps

In 1881 / 1882 they were living in Balaklava
In the early 1900's they were living in Esperance Western Australia
In June 1917 David and Margaret were living in Dutton Terrace Medindie South Australia
In 1919 they had moved to Rakes Road Enfield South Australia

David died 6th August 1920 and Margaret died 18th July 1921

They raised nine children
Deborah Margaret - born 7th March 1858
George James - born 27th June 1860
Mary Alice - born 22nd January 1863
David Norman - born 24th November 1864
Benjamin William - born 24th March 1867

Arthur Knowles and Mary Alice Peek

Arthur was born 4th March 1857 at Watervale South Australia and Mary was born on 22nd January 1863 at Yatta Creek South Australia

They married on 25th December 1881 at the residence of Mr David Peek, Mary's father at Balaklava by Mr John Gillingham, who was a Methodist Minister

Arthur died 13th June 1902 aged 45 years at Grange South Australia and is buried in Adelaide's West Terrace Cemetery

Mary, at 55 years of age, married again to a Mr John Charles Tucker on 9th September 1918 at Maughan Church in Adelaide
John's previous wife Sarah had died on 21st September 1910 and they had married on 12th December 1876

Mary died, at the age 64, on 17th June 1927

Arthur and Mary raised seven children
Arthur Norman - born 30th October 1882 - died 5th June 1961 - married Fanny Casson 4th August 1908

They married on 11th May 1874 at St Judes Church Leeds England

George came to Australia in September 1887 on the "SS Hiberia" (Hiberia ??) followed the next year by July and six children
He was involved in the Railways in England and Australia

George died 15th August 1930 at Prospect South Australia
July died 6th August 1931 at Prospect South Australia

They raised eight children
Millicent Mary Ann - born 22nd April 1875
Susan Grace - born 26th May 1876
John David - born 2nd March 1878
Alfred Ernest - born 9th August 1880
Francis William - born 25th February 1882
Gertrude - born 13th February 1886

George Watford - born 24th February 1893 at Port Pirie (at 7.30pm!!)

Harry Clive Knowles and Gertrude Ward

NOTE
- though his name was 'Harry Clive', he preferred to be, and was, called 'Clive'

Clive was born on 9th September 1884 and Gertrude was born on 13th February 1886 in Yorkshire England

They married on 4th May 1909 at Prospect Baptist Church South Australia

Clive was the Manager of Harris Scarfe Implement Company

He died on 16th November 1922 of kidney disease and is buried in Adelaide's West Terrace Cemetery

Gertrude was left to raise three girls under seven years of age on her own
Audrey Kathleen - born 5th February 1915
Laurel Margaret - born 21st February 1917
Norma Shirley - born 17th September 1919

Gertrude converted her large home in Dunn Street Semaphore into a boarding house and that is how they survived
Her second husband
John (Jock) Matheson was one of the boarders and lived in a tram in the back yard
They married during September 1946 after all the girls were married

Jock was born on 28th January 1891 and he died on 9th May 1967 aged 76 years
Gertrude died on 10th March 1970 aged 84 years - she had been sick for several years and had seven strokes
They were both cremated and have plaques at the Centennial Park Cemetery

COUDREY

#03---COUDREY from #06 and #05 ... continued at #02

Ronald Hill Coudrey and Laurel Margaret Knowles

Ronald Hill Coudrey was born on 4th May 1915 and Laurel Margaret Knowles was born on 21st February 1917

They married on the 1st February 1941 at Semaphore Baptist Church Adelaide South Australia

Ronald worked for a paint company in Port Adelaide after he left school
In later years he built houses in Loxton, and also conducted a Church Choir there
He taught drawing at the Adelaide Trade School
He joined the Army in the Second World War but did not go overseas as the Army wanted him in the Intelligence Department (topography)
After the war he conducted the Semaphore Baptist Church Choir, taught Sunday School and also conducted the Port Adelaide Orfius Mens Choir
Ronald had his own Printing Business in Adelaide for many years
He retired and finished his last years as an artist, painting many delightful scenes and playing the organ for pleasure in-between

The family lived at Largs Bay until they moved to Ron and Laurel's dream home in the Adelaide Hills
After the children married and left home, they moved to Maslins Beach where Ron pursued his talent for painting and Laurel, her talent for all things craft related
After Ron died Laurel moved to a smaller home at McLaren Vale South Australia

Ronald died on the 12th November 1989 and Laurel died on the 30th June 2001 - they were both cremated and share a plaque at the Centennial Park Cemetary Adelaide South Australia

They raised five children
Ronda Lesley - born 16th September 1943 at Wolverton Hospital Semaphore South Australia
Laurence Charles - born 10th October 1945 at Wolverton Hospital Semaphore South Australia
Knowlton Clive - born 9th May 1947 at Wolverton Hospital Semaphore South Australia
Sharon Margaret - born 22nd August 1954 at Loxton Hospital Loxton South Australia
Fiona Gertrude - born 19th March 1957 at Le Fevre Community Hospital Semaphore South Australia

Geoff Gerald Roneberg was born on the 3rd April 1949 at the Laura Hospital South Australia

His first marriage was to Stella Polman in Adelaide during 1969, and they had two children - Tony who was born on 8th January 1970 and Simone who was born on 1st May 1973

Following a divorce, he then married
Sharon Margaret Coudrey in Adelaide on 4th January 1975 at Knightsbridge Baptist Church in Leabrook South Australia - Sharon was born on the 22nd August 1954 at the Loxton Hospital South Australia
