The 2006 Claxton Shield Competition

Saturday 21st to Saturday 28th January 2006

"After months of selection trials, training camps and exhibition games,
all States have lodged their 21-man rosters
that they think and hope will bring home national glory!

All teams contain current and former professionals and Silver Medal Olympians
- all representing the best baseball talent the respective State has to offer

Not only is national honours on the line, but representation in the national team
to play in the up-coming World Baseball Classic is also being fought for

The competition will be stiff and the baseball will be dazzling!"

A note from the Australian Baseball Federation web site

"The 2006 Claxton Shield will be staged from the 21st - 28th of January
Whilst the tournament will be based at the Blacktown Olympic Park,
there will be some slight changes to the tournament format in 2006
Five of the eighteen scheduled games will be staged away from the Blacktown Olympic Park
at various locations around the Sydney, Illawarra and Canberra areas
This move is in an effort to the take the Claxton Shield 'to the people'
and increase the overall patronage of the tournament"

NOTE - The Queensland Team will be playing
one game at Narabundah ACT and one game at the Aquatic Reserve Manly NSW
As yet, I have not been able to find any photos of these venues
