Sunday 1st May 2011

Gary and his Dingo digging the holes for the new fence

First the gate post goes in ...

... and then the rest of the fence posts

Ritchie mixed all the concrete by hand in a wheelbarrow

Now it's time to erect the backnets behind the catchers

Geoff getting caught and tangled up in the frame

The first one goes in ...

... and Gary checks to make sure it's straight

One Down ... One To Go

Once again Gary checks the levels ... he doesn't trust his labourers !!

Today's work is finished

Sometime ago this secondhand fence mesh was donated to the Cairns Baseball League

In an effort to keep costs down, it was decided to use this ... and hopefully "Gary-The-Fence-Man" could make it look okay

And here is the mesh ready for Gary's experience and expertise !!

Saturday 7th May 2011

The two pitcher's plates had been put into the mound back on Saturday 9th April 2011 and the details are HERE

Ritchie is now putting blocks in front of the plates to stop holes being dug

These were packed in with a hard setting clay as used on Diamond Two
in the batter's and catcher's boxes and also on the mound ... and click HERE for more details

The Working Bee 'bullpen-clean-up-crew' now moves in !!

Sunday 8th May 2011

!!--early in the morning ... it is Opening Day ... and the games start at 9.30am--!!

Gary is hanging the fence mesh ...

... and it looks perfect

Like brand new ... Thanks, Gary !!

Still a few jobs to go

A gate has to be hung, fish-net sleeves to be made for the two backnets
and "concrete-covered-with-astro-turf" catcher's areas need to be organised
