Saturday 16th April 2011

Working Bee ... Cubs Baseball Club

Steve Landsberg ... John Tolentini ... Jack Marshall ... Steve Marshall ... Adrian Nelson

John starts work ...

... and his Support Crew letting him know they have the shovels ready for when he's finished with the mattock !!

They finally feel guilty and decide to give John a hand

The batter's and catcher's boxes have been dug out

THANKS

to Ric and Roz Doo for the use of their equipment

Ritchie arrives with a truck load of clay

The clay was 'wet-and-sticky' and had to be carried by hand

Job done ... and just needs to be levelled and compacted

****************************************************************************

Ritchie starts work on the mound

Geoff was smart ... kept away from the shovels and mowed the outfield of Diamond Two !!

The cutouts are almost finished

Getting ready to stack in the clay

The mound is finished

****************************************************************************

The job is done ... and the Working Bee is over ... and a fun time was had by all !!

The clay was covered with rubber mats for the Pre-Season games the next day, Sunday 17th April 2011

On Tuesday, the clay was levelled and compacted as much as possible ... though it was still too wet to use a whacker packer
Home plate and the mound were then watered and covered again as shown below
and will remain like this for a week or so and then the 'final touches' will be completed

****************************************************************************

The excess was dumped and will be used for repairs and maintenance

In storage, the clay needs to be kept moist

On Tuesday 19th April 2011, block edging and a tarpaulin were added ... and this is to be forever known as

"Ritchie's Clay Pile"
