Hello.
I am a regular listener to ABC Radio and Tony Delroy's Nightlife
program.
I have heard a "Valuation" segment on his program, but
could not remember the contact details.
Yesterday I wrote to Nightlife asking for details of the guest
who presented this segment.
I received a reply, stating that the guest was Antony Davies,
who represented your Company.
Below are the details of my enquiry, and I hope you can help us
to establish the value of the items listed.
My name is Geoff Roneberg, and I live in Cairns, NQ. and the full
contact details are below.
BRASS
COT
We have recently restored/rejuvenated a brass cot that had been
"sitting around" for a number (a lot!!!) of years.
(our daughter, who is now 27 years of age, slept in this cot!!!)
We have our own home page, and the "before and after"
photos have been included on this site.
Rather than attach pictures to this email, I thought it would
be easier to give you the link to the page.
Please click here:-
The brass cot
The page tells a bit of a story, plus there are a number of very
clear/detailed photos.
KITCHEN
DRESSER
Back in 1999 we also restored the above item - it was "spending
it's life" as a storage cupboard in the carport!!!
Once again, this item is included in our home page and also includes
"before and after" photos.
Please click here:-
The kitchen dresser - page one
The kitchen dresser
- page two
We are wondering what they might now be worth???
I can't say that this valuation is for any specific purpose -
we are just interested.
Maybe we have something "worth millions"!!!
Would be nice, but I don't think so!!!
I also understand that this type of request is very difficult
to do accurately via photos, internet, etc.
All we are looking for is "just some idea" of the value
of the two items.
Thank you for your time, and look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Geoff.
......and
here is the first valuation
Thursday 27th February 2003.
Dear Sir,
Auction estimates for
the following items would be...
Kitchen Dresser - $600/$1200 - Although not very old, these are
quite popular.
The cot - $800/1200.
Obviously they would
be more retail in shops.
Many thanks for your enquiry and sorry for the delay.
Regards,
Alexandra Rea.

......and here is another email from Cromwell's

Hi Geoff,
The kitchen dresser
- $800/$1200 estimate, with a $600 reserve.
Its a bit difficult with the cot.
Is it 19th Century?
Then $800/$1200, also with a $600 reserve.
Cheers,

......and here is the third reply from Cromwell's
Tuesday 4th March 2003.
Dear Geoff and Sharon.
Thank you for your inquiry.
The Cot is probably
circa 1900.
Considering its condition, I would suggest an auction reserve
of $300.00.
The Kitchen Dresser is 1920s/30s, probably Australian and I would
suggest an auction reserve of $400.00.
I hope this has been helpful.
Should you have further queries please feel free to contact me
again on my direct email below.
