Rick Robinson arrived with his "Concrete Crew" and started to dig out the areas for the two catchers

The boxing and mesh are in place

The truck arrives and this 'huge' concrete pour begins ...

... and the job is now finished

The boxing has been removed and the slabs are ready

Working Bee

Here is how the mound looks ... and it needs a bit of 'dressing up' ...

... so the rocks and lumps were raked up and removed ...

... and then the mound was given a thick layer of crusher dust for that 'finished effect'

Crusher dust was also spread around each of the catcher's areas

At the moment these green astro turf mats are just sitting on the concrete

They will eventually be securely fixed and then a home plate attached to each one

The Australian Schoolboys Baseball Championships start tomorrow ... Monday 23rd May 2011

Underneath the black rubber mats are the holes ready for the backnets to be erected
and these details are shown near the bottom of THIS page
There wasn't time to build them so these training screens were used and proved very successful
