Monday 28th March 2011

Though not finished, the mounds have been built ... and it's time to set up the catchers' areas

The Distance
Between the front of the pitching rubber where a pitcher must start his delivery
and the back of home plate is 60 feet 6 inches

The two boxes have been marked out

These are going to be dug out and a concrete slab will be poured
and this will then be covered in astro turf to which a home plate will be glued

Backnets are to be erected behind the catchers

******************************************************

This large area behind the catcher
will be used to store one of these

x

??--can anyone build one--??

Friday 6th May 2011

Ritchie is putting in the pitchers' plates, along with a timber block to stop any holes being dug

These were packed in with a hard setting clay as used on Diamond Two
in the batter's and catcher's boxes and also on the mound ... and click HERE for more details

Finished ... and they will do the job with only minor maintenance

Saturday 7th May 2011

Working Bee

John Tolentini ... Graham Dalton ... Bradley Dalton ... Jack Marshall ... Steve Marshall

Reshaping and sloping the front of the mound

A whacker-packer to give that final touch

The mound is now ready for the 2011 Season

Gary and his Dingo digging the holes for the backnet behind the catchers

There wasn't time today to concrete the poles in ... so these thick rubber mats were pegged to the ground
over the holes so there wouldn't be any accidents during the Season's Opening Day tomorrow, Sunday 8th May 2011
