Replacing / Updating the Lights

x

NOTE #01 - There are 32 photos on this page and it may take a few extra seconds to completely download
Yes, I know that's a lot ... but it's much better to have them all on one page so you can see from 'the start to the finish'
and, if you have a broadband internet connection, they will not take too long to display ... just be a little patient !!

NOTE #02 - I have an average '1500 download speed' internet connection ... and the page took just 40 seconds to display !!

During Cyclone Yasi in February 2011, two of the 'light heads' were spun around
These were the leftfield poles and the details can be seen by clicking HERE

The weather is now sunny and all the lights and switch gear had arrived ... so today was the day

As well as repairing these, it was decided to update all the lights on the outfield poles
These were all the original fittings from when they were initially installed during early 1990 ... twenty one years ago !!

As you'll see in the shots below, all the poles did have three lights
They now have just two each, but these are a more powerful system ... plus lots more economical to run

The crane arrives and begins to set up

!!--This was a great Sight--!!

The 'dog box' has been picked up and everything is ready to go

x

Work starts on the leftfield pole

The old light head is lifted out and brought to the ground

Changing the lights and fittings

x

Here are the old lights ...

... and the new style ... two fittings replacing three

The two poles in leftfield were completed together and then the two in rightfield were done

Lifting out the old light head

The new fitting is lowered into place

One pole is finished and the second one is now being done

x

The two poles in rightfield, still with the old lights

The lights have gone and the crane waits for the two light heads to be assembled

x

Up it goes

I tried to get right in under the poles to take the next six shots ... and it was a great view
