Saturday 7th May 2011

Geoff hand-painting the parts of the poles where the support ropes were

Meanwhile the holes for the poles were being dug by Gary and his Dingo

Here he is working outside the first base line fence ...

... and he's now doing the third base side

A Working Bee was also underway today

Here is the 'post-hole-cleanup-crew' hard at work ...

John Tolentini ... Graham Dalton ... Bradley Dalton ... Jack Marshall ... Steve Marshall

... and now they become the 'foul-pole-carrying-crew' !!

First there's a trip with the rightfield pole ...

... out the gate and down the road ...

... and it has arrived !!

Now they head out to leftfield ...

... and on they go ...

... and lay it down carefully ... don't want it scratched !!

The crane and driver arrive

Ritchie is 'foreman' and the pole in rightfield is the first to be tackled

The lift begins ...

... and the pole is being lowered into the hole

A big heap of concrete ...

... attach a couple of stabilisers ...

... now remove the lifting strap that was attached to the pole ... and the job is done !!

Roger Dienhoff is on the cherry picker
and Phil Warring and Danila Di Leo are watching how it goes

The crane, cherry picker and the 'foul-pole-installation-crew' now move to leftfield

The pole is in ...

... and the strap is being removed ...

... and both poles are now done ... and they look terrific !!
