Back Field

Pre-Game Warm Up and Training Area
damage caused by wheel tracks

Friday 18th February 2011

Due to the Cairns weather over the last few months, this area has been continually under water
Unfortunately, a few idiots think that is good and use it to do wheel spins and burn outs in their cars
Trail and mini bikes are also having their fun out there
This has resulted in dozens of marks and ruts across the field

Then, within the last couple of days, this happened

Looking at the tracks it seems that a large four wheel drive or tractor went across the middle of the field
As you can see in the photos below, these are deep ... in some places they would be around 30cm

These "trenches" are dangerous ... and could result in a broken leg or ankle ... ball games would be impossible

The area now is basically unusable until restoration work can be undertaken
and before this is done, a boundary fence must be erected

The area is still very wet,
and the shots show that as much mowing as possible has been done and the rest will be completed when it dries out

Monday 28th February 2011

The mowing of this area was completed on Wednesday 23rd February 2011

It then started to rain ... and hasn't stopped since !!

So these new tracks shown below were made within the last four days

The tracks go across the Back Field and then all the way down the path between the two Diamonds
and once the Clubhouse was reached, the car was turned around and driven out the same way

The entry / exit point was near the toilet block and the shot below was taken from that spot
