The boys and Erin went snow boarding and I walked up to the gondola and went up the top again so that I could have one last look
I took some more photos and just generally took it all in
When I got back I walked up the 'little run' back in to the resort and took some photos of the end of yesterday's 'big run' and some of the nice scenery
I just loved being out in the cold and the snow and didn’t really want to leave !!

I finished packing and checked out of the room and met Michelle and Jane at the bar and had a few drinks while we waited for the boys and Erin to come back in

Once Errol was back and had changed out of his ski gear we needed a vacuum cleaner to vac-pack the gear to fit in Errol's suitcase
We found a cleaning lady and she had no idea what we were trying to do but then we got our point across and got it done

We sat in the bar waiting for the shuttle and Ben came over for a chat and to say goodbye
We talked for ages and he did make comment that as the eight of us were leaving their bar bill would go down !!
A busload of Asians then arrived he had to go and greet them

!! Farewell !!

Our send-off by the Club Med Staff
six photos

We got the call that the bus was ready and got our gear organised to go
A bunch of staff ran out and waved flags as we piled on
They then danced and sang and ran down the driveway and kept waving the flags as the bus pulled away !!
Ben came out too, straight from greeting the 'newbies' to waving us off as well

We got to the station, got our tickets and waited for the train
The ride to Sapporo was going to be two hours
It was more stunning scenery and the time flew by

We arrived at the station and I went to the information counter and asked for directions to the hotel ... we were told that the hotel had a free shuttle bus and it would arrive in ten minutes ... score !!

We got to the Renaissance Sapporo Hotel ... and it was swanky !!
(click here for more information on Tanya's site plus a link to their Home Page)
I was worried that I had misread the info and that it was going to cost a whole lot more than I thought
I was even more worried when we got in the lift and the concierge pushed the button for the top floor ... eek !!
The rooms were great, the bathrooms were amazing and Errol was very excited to have a shower he could stand up in !!
I double checked my paperwork and the price was right ... I was certainly popular amongst our group for booking such a great spot !!

I found out that the free shuttle bus also went to the Sapporo Snow Festival at Odori Park
(click here for more information on Tanya's site plus a link to their Home Page)
So we didn’t need to make our own way around ... double score !!
We met Gavin and Jane at the bus stop right in front of a ski jump set up in the middle of the city
We spent about three hours wandering the snow section
We didn’t see much ice as we ran out of time and it was cold but the snow was great
Heaps and heaps of sculptures both big and little
There was a big zoo, a big Disney display, a great castle with a Japanese boy band performing in front of it which was very funny
And my favourite which was a big temple ... and I spent ages trying to get a great a picture of it !!

The guys are looking for drinks ...
three photos

... and some of the choices
four photos

We got the bus back to the hotel and the boys hit the vending machine for some drinks

Once back in the room I text Mum to jump on the internet and check the temperature here because it was freezing
My feet were numb but I just tried to forget about it because I didn’t want to miss anything
Mum said that it was -8 degrees ... brrrr !!

We watched some CNN and I had a bath and went to bed
