Sunrise over Club Med
five photos

On the way to breakfast that morning I noticed a beautiful sunrise out of the hallway window and took a few photos ... it was great !!

After breakfast Gavin and Jane were having their first lessons so we took some pictures for them as the others had done for us
When Errol and I were waiting for them it was snowing a bit and the snowflakes falling on my jacket were perfect

Tanya now writes about how her and Errol
moved from the 'baby slopes'
to a couple a little more advanced

All these runs can be seen
marked in
GREEN on the map below

Errol and I went out on our boards again and did two of the bigger runs
We had been spending all of our time on run
#15 ... which is a 'baby run' !!
This time we did
#12 and #13
I was a bit scared and took way longer than Errol did but I made it !!
I did some more little runs
It got pretty windy in the afternoon and the gondola was closed so everyone that wanted to keep boarding and skiing had to use the 'baby slope'
#15

Erin, Hugh and Trev caught up with us all at the bottom and Gavin was there too mid lesson
We found a little hill and the six of us had a toboggan race on our snow boards ... I didn’t win

The Light Parade

The Light Parade

video file name = general2010_1324

For two days prior to today, the Day's Events List had mentioned a "Light Parade"
We were told that thirty-five of the ski staff would ski down the mountain in the dark holding red flares and that it would be a "sight to behold" from the Conference Room in the resort
But for the two days prior to today the weather had closed in during the afternoon and it was too windy and the lifts had shut
Today it was on though !!
We arranged to meet together in the Conference Room and me and Erin and Michelle were there first and got ourselves front row seats
The rest of the room filled up and then Jane and the boys arrived with drinks for us ... good work !!
We waited and waited for it to get dark
We had a great view of the slope they would be coming down ... and then Ben came in and announced five minutes til show time
They started and it was pretty spectacular watching them all snake slowly down the hill
I can only imagine how cold it must have been !!
About three times a flare stopped moving within the group ... everyone started calling "man down man down" and as much as it looked like that, I think that the flares were dropped and no one was actually left behind

Once it was done it was back down to the bar for us until dinner

The dress code that night was sporty with an Asian themed dinner
I wore my Lorna Jane flash dance pants and a racer back top with my Cantebury jumper, with a ponytail and my headband ... basically what I had worn on the plane on the way over

Errol and I did some washing that night too ... chores have to be done !!

Canadian Bath .. Steam .. Snow
one photo

I was exhausted and at about 7.30pm I went back to the room and did my diary updates and then I started to 'seize up'
I decided I needed a hot bath and headed out to see where I could go
The jacuzzi had no water in it so I went out to the Canadian bath and it was full of water and free of people
I got in ... and it was snowing ... and the flakes were enormous ... and it was so quiet ... and so beautiful to have the snow falling on top of my head while I was sitting in the warm bath

Then a few young boys came out and got in
Alan, Alex, Jimmy and Mickey were from Korea and had been in our lessons on our first day
They were two sets of brothers and one of the fathers came out too
The boys were all laughing and joking and having a good time
Then Mickey jumped out and ran off into the snow, laid down and rolled around before getting back the bath ... it was hilarious !!
The boys were then arguing about who was going to go next ... none of them wanted to

Tanya rolling in the Snow
two photos

I said that if one of them did I would ... all three of them got out and ran and rolled and jumped back in so I had to do it !!
It was cold but quite exhilarating and getting back into the bath was so good

Click on the map to see Tanya at Loch Ness .. Christmas 2004

It wasn’t as cold as Loch Ness because I was able to instantly get warm again ... not like Scotland

Anyway Trev, Hugh and Errol arrived and joined in the games running off into the darkness to knock the heads off snowmen, tackling each other and generally having quite a good time

--I eventually headed off to bed way later than I had planned !!--
