From the Altoona Curve home page
RONEBERG, PAULINO POWER CURVE TO DOUUBLE-HEADER SWEEP
(1)
Brett Roneberg and Ronny Paulino each counted two-homer games Saturday as the Altoona Curve swept a doubleheader from the Erie SeaWolves, 9-5 and 9-2 at Uht Park.
Roneberg clubbed a pair of home runs, knocked in three, and scored three in the Curve's game one win.
Shawn Garrett set the tone for the night with a two-run homer in the first inning off Erie's Preston Larrison.
Three batters later,
Roneberg socked a two-run blast to right center to give the Curve a 4-0 advantage.
Roneberg provided an insurance run in the top of the seventh (and final) inning with a lead-off home run.
The multi-homer game was his first of the season and ran his 2003 home run total to six.

The Curve smacked 13 hits in winning the first game with
Roneberg, Bonifay, Kevin Nicholson, Jose Castillo, and Chris Duffy each recording a pair of safeties.
(2) Paulino, Nicholson, Castillo, Duffy, and Shaun Skrehot had two hits apiece in Altoona's game two barrage.
Castillo and
Roneberg (two-run triple) each knocked in a pair.

From the Altoona Mirror newspaper
(1) The Curve rediscovered the long ball Saturday night.
Brett Roneberg smacked a pair of homers in the first game, while Ronny Paulino launched two long balls in the finale.
Shawn Garrett belted a two run homer two batters into the first game,
and Roneberg launched another two run shot three batters later for a 4-0 lead.
Roneberg mashed his second homer of the night in the sixth to close the scoring.
He finished the game 2-from-3 with three RBI's and three runs scored

(2)
......and Roneberg also drove in a run in the second game for a total of four RBI's on the night.

From the USA Today Minor League Baseball web site
(1)
Brett Roneberg struck a pair of home runs to help the Altoona Curve defeat the Erie SeaWolves, 9-5, in the first game of a doubleheader.
After Shawn Garrett hit a two-run shot to open the scoring in the first frame,
Roneberg followed with his own two-run blast to cap a four-run inning and then added a leadoff homer in the seventh to close out the win.
(2)
Brett Roneberg, who hit a pair of home runs in the first game of the twinbill, stroked a two-run triple.

From the Erie Times News
(1) Preston Larrison gave up hits to four of the first five Curve batters, including a pair of
two-run homers by Garrett and Roneberg that made it 4-0 one out into the game.
(2) Ronny Paulino homered twice in the second game, including a long solo blast onto the roof of the Tullio Arena in the fourth, and
Brett Roneberg, who drove in five runs in the two games, drilled a two-run triple in the fifth.

Other reports from the internet
(1)
Brett Roneberg homered twice and drove in three runs and Shawn Garrett added a two-run homer in the opener for the Curve, which chased Erie starter Preston Larrison with seven runs in the first two innings.

......and from his home town newspaper!!!
This article appeared in the "Back Play - Sports Shorts" section of the Cairns Post

As can be seen from the above dimensions, the Park is short down the lines but very deep in centrefield
Both of Brett's homers went over the wall in the right-centrefield area
and I inquired and was advised that this distance is 367 feet to the bottom of the fence
So Brett's first home run must have travelled a long way to reach the street!!!
......in fact, both home runs must have sailed a long way!!!

A look at Brett's plate appearances
Game One

Playing first base - batting at #5
Had 3 plate appearances - 3 at bats - and a walk
#01 - RHP - (did not hear) - A TWO RUN HOMER!!! - 2 x RBI'S!!! - during the Post-game Show, this hit was replayed - and see below what the commentator had to say!!!
#02
- RHP - (did not hear) - walked and scored
#03 - RHP - runner at first base/one down - called/ball/foul, followed by a ground ball towards shortstop which resulted in a "6-to-4-to-3" double play
#04 - LHP - led off the innings - foul, AND THEN HIS SECOND HOME RUN OF THE GAME!!! - 1 x RBI!!! - and see below for the call!!!
Game Two

Playing first base - batting at #4
Had 4 plate appearances - 4 at bats
#01 - LHP - led off the innings - first pitch hitting, and drove it up the middle but the second-baseman got accross - out "4-to-3"
#02 - LHP - runner at second base/two down - called, and then a ground ball to third base and the fielder bobbled the ball - Brett safe at first base on an error - left stranded at the end of the innings
#03 - LHP - runner at second base/one down - ball/called, and a ground ball towards second base - out "4-to-3"
#04 - LHP - runners at first and second base/two down - first pitch hitting - AND DROVE IT DEEP INTO THE RIGHTFIELD CORNER!!! - A TRIPLE AND 2 x RBI'S!!!

At the end of each game, the Curve radio announcer, Rob Egan (left) announces his
"Curve Player of the Game" which is sponsored by Cracker Barrel
Brett received this Award in Game One

Game One - A very costly error!!!
It's the bottom of the fifth innings, and the Curve are leading 8 runs to 1 - the SeaWolves have a runner at second base with two down, and the next batter drove the ball towards first base and the commentator said it "went through Brett's legs for an error"!!! - that put runners at first and third base when the innings should have been over!!! - the next batter walked to load the bases, and the next SeaWolves player belted a grand slam!!! - and they scored four un-earned runs moving the score to 8 runs to 5!!! (and I bet Brett was relieved when the Curve held on to win the game, helped by his own second home run!!!)

Game One - Fielding
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the SeaWolves had a runner at first base - the next batter hit into a double play through second base - the final out was at first base, and according to the commentator, "Roneberg made a great stretch to make the final out on that play"

Email to Brett
Hi,
AND YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE THE FOUL LANGUAGE THAT WAS FLYING AROUND THIS HOUSE!!!
We didn't hear your two run shot!!!
If you looked at Friday's game report, you would have read that the broadcast was terrible.
And today we got nothing at all for the start of the game.
Weekend here too, and your Mother wanted to listen!!!
SHE MAY HAVE SWORN A BIT TOO!!!
BUT QUIETLY!!!
We are going to listen to the post-game show - hope Rob Egan replays it!!!
Congrats on #5!!!
The broadcast eventually started.
We missed your second at bat as well, where you walked, but heard your third at bat - double play - and the "costly error"!!!
Top of the sixth innings at the moment - Altoona leading 8 to 5.
See you,
and hopefully we'll be able to listen to the rest of the double-header.

Felt really good to have,
and I hope I can do some more damage starting against the Ravens
See ya.
......and another note from Brett
Sorry you didn't get to hear it.
Damn - but hopefully you got to hear the second one.
I haven't read the rest of your emails but it was a good day.
......and a note on the home runs
The first one went over the ninth sign in from the right,
and the second one went over the tenth.
The first one went a lot further - but they both went far enough!!
See ya

An email from Lindsey Billotte, and Curve fan who was listening in Altoona
Hi.
I was just listening to the Curve game, which you probably are too.
Brett just got another homerun.
Man, from the sounds of it , he hit that ball pretty hard.
Talk to you later.
Lindsey
Email from Ed Leipold - one of the "Curve Psycho Fans", a group of season ticket holders
Hey Geoff,
Looks like the guys are still on a roll!
Great sweep tonight, with Brett tearing up SeaWolves pitching. (along with a couple other guys)
All the players were quietly confident before the Akron series last week, and were looking for a good road trip.
Signed up 9 more "Physcos" this week, and we now number about 60 strong.
You can bet we'll help carry the Curve right into the playoffs, for the first time in franchise history.
I know you and the Mrs. were really into the 2 games tonight, as I was.
Take care, and be assured we will be in the Championship hunt, either from 1st or 2nd place, it doesn't matter.
The guys will take care of business, and Altoona will be rocking, come September.
GO CURVE!!!
Ed
