Gathering for Worship

Chairs, Pews and Seats
The grey chairs allow our current flexible seating arrangement
The pews were in use until 2007 and the tan chairs are original 1880 chairs faithfully restored by Bob Perry

We Shared in the Lord's Supper

A Message from the Bible
Rev. David Smith is the current pastor from February 2002 to the current day
David continues the long tradition of focusing on the Scriptures for all matters of life and faith

What Shall We Understand By Our Inheritance ??
We heard from the word of God regarding the rich inheritance we have been given in Christ,
in addition to the rich inheritance we’ve been given from our own church ancestors

.

Coudrey Memorial Pipe Organ

Standing in place since January 1913

Installed 22nd January 1913
The slot at the lower left used to house a pump lever
Five years after the organ’s installation, an electric motor was installed to relieve the manual blowing

Proudly manintained for 100 years
Even though we don’t use the organ as much these days,
we are proud of our heritage and we have it maintained twice a year

Peter McMillan and David Lang take the driver's seat

.

Peter and David
Peter McMillan has been playing our organ for over a decade and David Lang started to play it in 2013

Focussed and Concentrating !!

She'll Not Take It, Captain !!

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
The Prelude / Postlude was Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Bach)

They've got what it takes !!
Peter and David took our organ to the limit with their duets and beautiful hymn playing

The Trumpet added to the Sound

We continue to Sing
They would have used Hymn Books
Everyone is looking to the screen, which is normally at the front of our church, but not today

During my recent two year appointment as President of the Baptist Churches of SA,
I had the privilege of visiting many of our Baptist churches in our state

While many had strengths that we can and need to learn from,
it was always a joy to return home and participate in one of our own worship services
God is easily experienced and worship happens

My prayer is that this aspect of our inheritance
continues to be realised both now and into the future of Parkside Baptist Church

Worship in Song ... Our Inheritance

Our church ancestry held worship in music to be very important
The installation of the organ in 1913 is part of the evidence
along with the fact that our services were regularly broadcast on radio through the 1920’s

Even more evidence is found in the current climate and culture
of the worshipping community that gathers here each Sunday

We enjoy and continue to foster a deep sense of worship through our music teams and worship leaders
In recent decades we have not used the organ as frequently as they did last century,
but we still value the worship of God through music

We are claiming and living in our inheritance

Today we sang:
GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
BE THOU MY VISION
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
O FOR A THOUSAND TONGUES TO SING

... and finally ... A Lower View
Did anyone notice these socks found on the feet of David Lang !!
