Red-letter day as Heat
fails to fire
Piccone Reds continued to dominate
the Cairns Baseball League with their ninth consecutive grand
final victory yesterday
Reds were pushed to a third and deciding game by Shogun Heat
in the series but came up trumps 4 - 0
The game was in the balance throughout, but reds showed more
pulse and made the most of their opportunities late in the game
to come away with the victory
The hero of the day for Reds was pitcher Darren Hodge, who threw
a complete shutout
Cameron Cairncross,
who became Cairns first Major League baseballer when he joined
the Cleveland Indians this year, and Australian Olympian Brett
Roneberg threw the ceremonial first pitches to get the proceedings
under way for the day

You're kidding ... Heat's Graham
Maher (catcher) and Mick Burton can't believe umpire Steve Quarrell
called Paul Wollin safe ... and this
