Hi Peter.
Writing to bring you up to date with how Brett is going in the
United States.
As you know, he sufferred a hand injury during Spring Training
in March, and was placed on the disabled list.
He returned to action on the 1st June, and has been playing rehab
games with the Jupiter Hammerheads, the "High A" affiliate
of the Florida Marlins based in Florida.
He rang last night - or this morning!!!
- at midnight - which is around ten in the morning on Tuesday
in Florida.
He was very excited, as he had just been told that he had been
assigned to the Calgary Cannons, the "AAA" affiliate
of the Marlins!!!
He finished last season playing for the "AA" Portland
Sea Dogs, and he was extremely pleased to receive this promotion.
The Cannons are based in Calgary, Alberta and their official web
site can be found by clicking here
The Cannons are currently on a road trip playing the Sacramento
River Cats, and he will join up with the team there.
Brett was unable to give very many details as he had just that
minute been advised that he had to pack ready for the trip all
the way from south Florida to Canada!!!
(but he did mention one thing!!! - the "AAA" teams travel
by plane on their road trips - so no more hours and hours spent
travelling by bus!!!)
However, should we receive any further news, I will pass it on
to you, or you can ring at the numbers below.
Regards,
Geoff.

Thanks mate...
Great news indeed.
Given that he hasn't done anything really "special"
this year after the injury, it just goes to PROVE how highly they
rate him in the organisation.
No wonder he is feeling good!
and isn't it amazing how often good things can come out of adversity.
I bet he didn't see this coming while he was nursing the injured
hand!
You can bet we'll mention this on our site...

2001 - game commentator for the Portland Sea Dogs)
Hi Geoff and Sharon:
If there is anything better than getting transferred from south
Florida to Calgary in mid-June, I am not aware of what it is.
Good luck to you and Brett,
and if for some reason your travel plans still include Portland
(which is also infinitely preferable to South Florida at this
time of year), please give us a call (207-283-0819).
Sincerely,
Andy Young

OH MY GOSH ---- What Wonderful News!!!!
I was out of town on business for a week in Atlanta and when I
returned Robin told me he was playing again.
We've been following his progress and have been excited for him
playing again.
But now to AAA in Canada - How exciting - I'm so happy for him.
I guess I'll hold off on Portland plans and start looking at Calgary!!!!!
We all want to see him again so bad - it's been too long.
THANKS FOR THE NEWS!!
Diane

Its a pity that he is so far away and he doesn't get the chance
to play anywhere near us otherwise we would get photos and stuff

Don't faint and I probably shouldn't talk to someone who pikes
out on parties
but I'm so pleased and excited by Brett's news that I thought
I'd even send an e-mail.
Fan-bloody-tastic news
give him my love and best wishes
still hoping to see you on saturday night
