Launching onto the Australian baseball scene in 1995 as a pitcher,
Brett Roneberg has
made a mark for himself as a talented outfielder.
After his Australian Team debut in 1995, Roneberg was picked up
by the Florida Marlins where the Aussie has spent the past four
years in their minor league system.
Selection in the Senior National Team will contribute to Roneberg's
ambition of making the big leagues.
Brett Roneberg will
be making his first trip to the Olympic Games when he lines up
in Australia's formidable baseball side at the Sydney 2000 Olympic
Games.
The 21-year-old has been playing in the USA where he has been
snapped up by the Florida Marlins and is playing in one of their
minor league teams.
He has gone in the opposite direction to many of his fellow Aussies
once they leave for the USA and has been transformed from a pitcher
into a very capable outfielder.
He is certainly an Aussie to watch in the future
Following his junior Australian debut in 1995, RONEBERG was signed up by the
Florida Marlins and has spent the past four years in their minor
league system.
Currently playing for their class-A affiliate, the Brevard County
Manatees in the Florida State League, he has a batting average
of .276 over a span of 115 games.
He has picked up a total of 110 hits and 42 RBI's.
In his national league career in Australia, RONEBERG has an average
of .298 and a slugging percentage of.472 from 235 at bats.
His tally of hits is 70 and 38 RBI's
