I was very excited because my sister Lesley
was coming to Cairns !! Her friend Judy owns a unit at Port Douglas and she invited Lesley and their other friend Imelda to visit Port Douglas is only fourty minutes up the road from our place so naturally we were going to get together! I drove up there at about 1.00pm on Sunday to collect Lesley They had spent the morning at the markets and I picked her up out the front of the famous "Mochas Pie Shop" On the way back to our place we stopped at the Rex Lookout Just as we got out of the car, a guy was taking off into the sky in a hang glider ... very spectacular !! Next stop was Brett's house so Lesley could say hi and check out his nice new home Heading back to our place, I decided to stop in at the baseball fields to show Lesley where we had spent the best part of twenty years and to meet my friend Anne We arrived at our place and it was nice to be able to show her our new home and all our stuff !! We had a cuppa and a chat Lesley had some Family History papers to give Geoff so they sorted that out before it was time to leave to go to Tanya's place Lesley was able to see "The Memory Wall" ... which shows lots of Tanya's photos from her time overseas Then we sat outside and had a drink, a piece of cake and a nice chat For last Christmas, I was given a night's accommodation and $100.00 dinner voucher at The Hotel Cairns as a 'thank you' gift from the owner of the hotel who is one of our Australia Post customers ... and click HERE for lots more details I had booked for the Sunday night and also organised to have Monday off work We checked into the hotel and as you can see from the photos they have a tropical feel Lesley got the queen size bed and I had the single The room had a balcony and we could see the sea through the trees !! We changed for dinner and headed to the restaurant We had brochette for an entree and we both had beautiful herb crusted barramundi with a tropical salad ... very, very nice it was too !! We had to take a photo of our desserts ... Lesley had the chocolate and mine was the other one and they were beautiful as well !! Our waitress took a photo of us which was nice After dinner we walked down to the Esplanade ... I was cold so we didn't stay long We went back to our room and had coffee on the balcony and talked and laughed for ages We had morning coffee on the balcony and talked and laughed for ages again !! We took a picture of ourselves which didn't turn out too bad We drove along the Esplanade and stopped in at MacDonalds for breakfast We drove around Cairns a little and then I took Lesley to my work for a tour of the Post Office and to meet Rhona and Sue Lesley's friends met us at the Botanic Gardens and we all had a good look around there They were so funny taking pictures of leaves, flowers and spider webs ... I even took a pretty good photo of a spider web myself and it's below We had lunch at Fasta Pasta and it was delicious ... I had an entree size and it was huge !! The girls had some shopping to do so we went to an Op Shop and to Myers at Cairns Central Judy wanted to show the girls The Marina at Yorkeys Knob It was worth the visit ... I hadn't been there for years ... it is a very pretty relaxing spot Next stop was our place ... I had to show off our place to Judy and Imelda !! We had a cuppa and some apple slice and looked at some of my craft cards ... I am sending some patterns to Judy cause she liked them Then it was time to say goodbye They had one more day in Port Douglas and then it was back to Adelaide on the 23rd June Cairns had perfect weather for their visit too I was glad Lelsey could come to my place ... it was lovely to see her again and we had a really nice time PS ... I think Lesley likes Cairns ... at this time of the year anyway I was a bit cold at various times during the day and evening and she thinks I am crazy ... she thought the weather was beautiful !! |
