Installing the Inground Supports at First, Second and Third Base

Working at first base

No good just looking at it, Ritchie ... the hole isn't deep enough and it wont dig itself !!

... that's better ...

... and the job is done ... ninety feet to the back corner of the base

The base in the shot below looks a bit 's_it_y' but it gets a coat of paint below !!

Now at second base ...

... and third base is also finished

A coat of paint on the bases ... and the Diamond looks great ... from near first base

The photo below was taken from the roof of the Scorer's Box

On the roof of the Amenities Block for the next three shots

Panoramic Views of Diamond One

Each of the two shots below are a series of three photos that were "stitched" together using Microsoft's Image Composite Editor
Fantastic result !!
--------------------Hey, Jamie Snowdon ... thanks for the information !!

Time and Game ... and the bases have been packed away

A Trip in the Country ... out to Herberton

x

x

To collect Ant Bed to build the Pitcher's Mound

... a nice sunny day ...

... a fourwheel drive truck plus trailer ...

... three strong guys ...

... a few picks, shovels and crowbars ...

... and the Official Photographer ...

x

Ritchie, Brett and Peter Ives attacking the first nest / bed

Brett tosses a few bits in the trailer ...

... and a few more

Brett breaks off a decent sized chunk ...

... and he and Ritchie carry it to the trailer

While they were doing this, Peter had picked up a bunch of smaller ones from the other side of the road

x

x

Brett gets a smaller nest

Ritchie and Peter continue to fill up the truck and trailer

x

x

Need just one more ...

x

... and it's a monster !!

Ritchie + Crowbar ... and ... Brett + Pick

Attack !! ...

... and again ...

... and still again ...

... and again the crowbar and pick swing ...

... and now reinforcements arrive ... and Peter takes the pick

Finally !! ... a great chunk is loose ...

... and it comes crashing down !!

Peter continues to cut it down while Ritchie and Brett finish the loading

Last piece ... got enough ... and cannot carry anymore weight

The Nest is Battered and Bruised ... but not Broken ... and the Ants will Rebuild !!

The trip back to Trinity Beach ... and it's left ready for the Working Bee tomorrow

and the "red dot marks the spot" of The New Diamond One Pitching Mound
