Press Release - 8th December 2004
2005 HONDA VFR800
...... Honda's Greatest All Rounder Wins With Red

For nearly twenty years, Honda's world-renowned VFR has consistently been hailed as one of the finest all round motorcycles of any displacement
The VFR800 is a machine so remarkably well tuned that it feels just as comfortable and confident flying up and down mountain passes, as it does cruising the highway
New for 2005, the Honda's greatest all-rounder will now be available in "Winning Red" as well as Pearl Heron Blue
The latest version continues to offer a unique fuel-injected V4 engine that produces a band of strong, accessible power through a two stage valve actuation system
This translates to low-end torque as well as the searing power that can be expected of high performing 4-valve mills
Styling as well as effortless braking are integral to the design of the VFR
In addition to the fine-tuned aluminium chassis, the VFR also offers a specially configured Dual Combination Brake System to ensure smooth and effective stops
Like a supersonic jet fighter, the VFR's dynamic bodywork takes high-speed aerodynamic design to a new level of excitement
Up front, its striking 4-beam headlight system is arrayed in an unmistakable 'V' pattern around a deeply angled windscreen
Its distinctive 'European' looks combine sharp angles and edges with sweeping curves that terminate in a remarkable tail design
In true sport-tourer style, the VFR offers a matching luggage option for those who want to explore the wide open road for days on end, particularly if you're looking for the best in bikes made for two
Pillion passengers have been well looked after in the latest VFR's artful design
With the bold, new 'Centre-Up' exhaust system now located under its broad seat, room was made to lower the foot steps to a more comfortable position
The seat itself features thicker padding for a plush long-distance touring ride
Wider, comfortably shaped cast resin hand grips can be easily attached or detached for the ultimate in riding comfort
The cost of the VFR800 remains unchanged for next year

Bike of the Month ...... Honda VFR800

First impressions
Post modern power house
The VFR800 has the lines of a stealth bomber and the performance to suit
As I ran my eye over the VFR for the first time I couldn’t help but marvel at Honda’s unique ability of retaining all the classic lines of past VFR models, yet still utilizing the latest design techniques giving the VFR800 a wild futuristic appearance that carries superior aerodynamic function
The ergonomic design of the VFR seats you in a relatively upright position, which I found very comfortable
The unique seat design and rear pillion handles are a brilliant idea, which makes a long tour with two up, enjoyable
Further more a high rise exhaust system allows the pillion foot pegs to be lowered making a better seating position
This bike has the comfortable steady balance of a big touring machine, coupled with the ever ready V4 performance and predictable handling, which is always just a fast curve away
At the heart of the VFR800 beats a V4 800cc motor that delivers a powerful linear surge through a two stage valve actuation
Torque builds solidly at low RPM and screams through to the top giving the VFR800 lively sports bike acceleration
Braking can be described as strong and progressive, using the Duel Combined Braking System which works brilliantly in conjunction with the tuned aluminum chassis and steering geometry
Ride away
The VFR800 is without a doubt a fantastic ride with so many diverse characteristics
Its truly like owning two motorcycles with one rego
The long distance tour is a simple pleasure, with its comfortable seating position and generous pillion arrangement
The VFR800 brings back the thrill to the long open road, blending sports bike performance with a touch of refined sensitivity
