Adam Boeve drilled a go-ahead,
two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Altoona
Curve to their sixth consecutive win, 5-4, over the New Britain
Rock Cats Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series and
six-game road trip
Altoona (27-27) has suddenly turned red hot after ending a lengthy
10-game losing streak just 10 days ago
Since that losing skid, the second-longest in franchise history,
the Curve have won eight of nine games
With the Curve trailing 4-3 entering the top of the ninth, Neil
Walker ripped a lead-off single to right field, setting the stage
for Boeve's heroics
Facing Rock Cats' reliever Frank Mata, Boeve sent a towering fly
ball over the 16-foot high center-field wall at New Britain Stadium
to give Altoona the ninth-inning lead
Matt Peterson closed out for the Curve win by holding New Britain
off the board in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't easy
Matt Allegra drilled a lead-off double off the wall in right-center
and reached third base with only one out, but Peterson forced
Brandon Roberts to ground out to second against a drawn-in infield
and struck out Felix Molina, who went 4-for-5 on the night, to
end the game and earn his 10th save of the season
Chris Hernandez (2-1) walked in the go-ahead run in the New Britain
eighth inning, which gave the Rock Cats a 4-3 lead, but was credited
with the victory
Mata (0-1) was charged with three runs and six hits in two innings
of relief and was tagged with the loss
Boeve was one of four Curve players to record multiple hits in
the victory
Walker, Brandon Chaves and Steven Pearce each had two of their
club's 10 hits
The Curve and Rock Cats will play the middle game of their three-game
series Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium
First pitch is set for 6.35pm
Wardell Starling (2-4, 5.47) will get the starting nod for Altoona,

it 4-3

help give the Curve a 5-4 win over New Britain Tuesday night at

Peterson allowed a leadoff double, but struck out Felix Molina
with Matthew Allegra on third to end the game
