(01) As he was announcing the Starting Lineups during the Pre-game Show, the commentator said - "Brett Roneberg is hitting at number three in the lineup and is the Curve's designated hitter tonight ... this is Brett's first start in a game since Friday 18th May ... he had been on the Disabled List with an injured hand ... it is good to have his lefthanded bat back in the lineup"

(02) During Brett's fourth plate appearance, the commentator said - "With a runner at first base, the Rock Cats middle infielders are playing back as Brett Roneberg is a double play candidate"

Boeve blasts Curve past New Britain, 5-4

Adam Boeve drilled a go-ahead, two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Altoona Curve to their sixth consecutive win, 5-4, over the New Britain Rock Cats Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series and six-game road trip

Altoona (27-27) has suddenly turned red hot after ending a lengthy 10-game losing streak just 10 days ago
Since that losing skid, the second-longest in franchise history, the Curve have won eight of nine games

With the Curve trailing 4-3 entering the top of the ninth, Neil Walker ripped a lead-off single to right field, setting the stage for Boeve's heroics
Facing Rock Cats' reliever Frank Mata, Boeve sent a towering fly ball over the 16-foot high center-field wall at New Britain Stadium to give Altoona the ninth-inning lead

Matt Peterson closed out for the Curve win by holding New Britain off the board in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't easy
Matt Allegra drilled a lead-off double off the wall in right-center and reached third base with only one out, but Peterson forced Brandon Roberts to ground out to second against a drawn-in infield and struck out Felix Molina, who went 4-for-5 on the night, to end the game and earn his 10th save of the season

Chris Hernandez (2-1) walked in the go-ahead run in the New Britain eighth inning, which gave the Rock Cats a 4-3 lead, but was credited with the victory

Mata (0-1) was charged with three runs and six hits in two innings of relief and was tagged with the loss

Boeve was one of four Curve players to record multiple hits in the victory
Walker, Brandon Chaves and Steven Pearce each had two of their club's 10 hits

The Curve and Rock Cats will play the middle game of their three-game series Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium
First pitch is set for 6.35pm
Wardell Starling (2-4, 5.47) will get the starting nod for Altoona, while New Britain will counter with righty Tristan Crawford (5-3, 4.04)

Boeve lifts Curve past Cats

Adam Boeve's two-run homer in the ninth inning lifted visiting Altoona over New Britain, 5-4, on Tuesday

With the Curve trailing, 4-3, Neil Walker led off the ninth with a single and Boeve drilled his seventh homer over the center-field wall as Altoona (27-27) recorded its 12th one-run win

Reliever Chris Hernandez (2-1) got the win, despite walking three and retiring only two batters in the eighth

Matt Peterson tossed a scoreless ninth to notch his 10th save

Starter Luis Munoz yielded three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over seven innings

Alex Fernandez hit an RBI single during a two-run second and Steven Pearce delivered a run-scoring double in the eighth to knot the score at 3-3

Altoona went on to extend its winning streak to six games

After Brock Peterson slammed a leadoff homer in the second, Felix Molina, who went 4-for-5, stroked an RBI single and Brian Buscher plated a run with a groundout in the third to give New Britain (28-24) a 3-2 edge

Garrett Guzman drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to make it 4-3

Reliever Frank Mata (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs on six hits with one strikeout in two frames

Rock Cats starter Ryan Mullins yielded two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts over seven innings

Boeve's smash gets Curve road win

One of the Curve’s best hitters put Altoona on top, then one of the team’s best relievers hung on as the Curve won dramatically once again

Adam Boeve hit a towering two-run homer in the ninth inning to help give the Curve a 5-4 win over New Britain Tuesday night at New Britain Stadium
Matt Peterson stranded the tying run at third base in the bottom half of the ninth as Altoona won a season-high sixth consecutive game and came from behind for the fifth time in a row

Peterson allowed a leadoff double, but struck out Felix Molina with Matthew Allegra on third to end the game

Neil Walker, who went 2-for-3, singled to start the Curve’s ninth

New Britain took a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning thanks to shaky Curve pitching from Chris Hernandez
He relieved Dave Davidson with one out and a runner at first, but walked in the go-ahead run
The Rock Cats drew two free passes and an intentional walk off Hernandez (2-1)

The Curve also were down, 3-2, before Steven Pearce’s RBI double in the eighth inning scored Brandon Chaves to tie the game

All three Curve runs in the final two innings came off Frank Mata (0-1)

Curve starter Luis Munoz went seven strong innings, scattering eight hits and giving up three runs - two earned
He held the Rock Cats scoreless over his final four innings

New Britain’s Ryan Mullins limited the Curve to two runs in seven innings in only his second Double-A start
The Rock Cats’ lefty blanked the Curve over his final five innings and retired 11 consecutive batters at one point

Altoona’s Adam Boeve hit a two-run home run off New Britain reliever Frank Mata in the top of the ninth to give the Curve a 5-4 win at New Britain Stadium

The game started as a pitcher’s duel between Rock Cats’ starter Ryan Mullins and the Curve’s Luis Munoz

Mullins tossed seven impressive innings for the Rock Cats
The 23-year-old limited the Curve to two runs on five hits and two walks
He struck out four in his second career Double-A start, but came away with the no-decision

Munoz was just as imposing, allowing three runs (2ER) on eight hits with four strikeouts

The Curve took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Alex Fernandaez’ RBI single to right field
Neil Walker, who reached base on a walk, then scored on Brian Peterson’s double play groundout for a 2-0 advantage

The Rock Cats cut the Curve’s lead in half with Brock Peterson’s solo blast to center field

In the third, the Rock Cats struck again
Kyle Geiger opened the inning with a double and moved to third on Brandon Roberts’ sac bunt
Geiger scored on a single by Felix Molina to tie the game
Trevor Plouffe advanced the runners and reached base safely with a bunt
Brian Buscher’s groundout to shortstop allowed Molina to score and gave the Rock Cats the lead, 3-2

Steven Pearce doubled to center field off Mata in the eighth to knock in Brandon Chaves and tie the game
Pearce was thrown out at third base when Molina cutoff Roberts’ throw from center field and threw to catcher Kyle Geiger trying to tag Chaves out at home, but Pearce attempted to take third on the throw home and Geiger fired the ball to third base for the final out of the inning

Momentum carried over into the bottom of the inning for the Rock Cats
Felix Molina singled, Brian Buscher drew an intentional walk, and Brock Peterson walked to load the bases
Altoona reliever Dave Davidson then walked Garrett Guzman to score Molina from third for the go-ahead run

The lead would be short-lived, though, as the Curve came out swinging in the top of the ninth
Walker singled to lead off the inning and Boeve delivered a two-run shot over the center field wall

Mata (0-1) allowed three runs on six hits in two innings to suffer the loss

For the Rock Cats, Molina led the offense with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate and scored two runs

Chris Hernandez (2-1) came away with the win, despite walking three in 2/3 innings

Matt Peterson threw a shutout ninth for his tenth save
