Heard during the game
(01) After the Curve put the two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh innings, the commentator said - "We could see a pinch hitter here now ... and we are going to ... Brett Roneberg is coming out of the dugout in place of Taber Lee ... I was talking to the Curve Manager Tim Leiper, and he said that the Curve would have one of the strongest benches in the entire Eastern League ... in today's game, Brett is part of that bench and he is being called on here for a "righty-lefty" match up and to try to give the Curve the lead"
Following Brett's hit, the commentator continued - "The Curve now have a one run lead in the game, thanks to Brett Roneberg's RBI single ... it's great that Tim Leiper has this sort of 'ace-up-his-sleeve' ... Brett has now been called upon to pinch hit three times, and he has two hits and has driven in two runs on those occasions ... and this would probably have to be the most important one of them"
Just a Note
I could hear Brett being announced over the loudspeakers at Blair
County Ballpark ... and it was great hearing the terrific round
of applause he received!!!

Game Reports
Kip Bouknight no-hit the Akron
Aeros for 5-1/3 innings and Andrew McCutchen homered for the second
straight day as the Curve won Sunday's series finale 5-1 and the
three-game series two-games-to-one
Bouknight was dominant in his fifth start of the year, carrying
a no-hit bid into the sixth inning
Argenis Reyes did spoil that bid with a single, but it was one
of just two hits the Aeros collected against Bouknight
Bouknight (3-0) worked seven innings allowing just one earned
run on two hits to earn the win
Scott Lewis was also effective on the mound for Akron, holding
Altoona to a lone run on just three hits in six innings
The Curve broke through against reliever Kyle Collins in the seventh
inning
With the score tied
1-1, Steven Pearce led off with a single and advanced to third
on a Dave Parrish single
Brett Roneberg was then called upon to pinch-hit for Taber Lee
and he came through with a single back up the middle to put the
Curve ahead 2-1
Collins retired Brandon Chaves and Jason Bowers, but with two
outs, Andrew McCutchen belted a line-drive home run into the left-field
bleachers to give Altoona a 5-1 lead
It was the second home run of the year for McCutchen on the heels
of his first which he hit in Saturday night's 6-2 loss
Justin Vaclavik relieved Bouknight in the eighth inning and turned
in his third consecutive scoreless outing
Vaclavik held the Aeros hitless over two innings to preserve the
5-1 win
The Curve scored first in the ballgame, plating a run off of Lewis
in the fourth inning
With one out, Lewis walked Neil Walker, who then stole second
base to get into scoring position
Dave Parrish drove him in with a ringing single to left for a
1-0 lead
The Aeros tied it up in the sixth with their only run off of Bouknight
Reyes broke up the no-hit bid with a flare single to left-field
He scored two batters later on an Asdrubal Cabrera double to left-field
Collins, who surrendered the four runs to the Curve in the seventh
inning took the loss for Akron (14-12) who dropped behind Erie
(15-11) for the top-spot in the Eastern League's Southern Division

year on Monday for game one of a three-game series
Game one is scheduled for 6.35pm with RHP Luis Munoz (3-0, 2.60)

5-1, on Sunday
Bouknight (3-0) took a no-hitter in the sixth inning before running
into a jam
He allowed a one-out single to Argenis Reyes, who scored two batters
later on Asdrubal Cabrera's RBI double
The 28-year-old right-hander went seven innings, allowing one
run on two hits
He struck out four and walked one to remain unbeaten in six games,
five of which have been starts

innings
He fanned a season-high eight batters and walked two
Kyle Collins (0-2) took the loss for the Aeros (14-12) after surrendering
four runs on five hits over two innings
Curve outfielder Andrew McCutchen
couldnt capitalize on his first opportunity to drive in
a run Sunday afternoon
Akron wasnt as fortunate the second time around
McCutchens three-run homer in the seventh inning gave the
Curve some breathing room in a 5-1 victory over the Aeros before
5,817 fans at Blair County Ballpark
Altoona also got an outstanding performance from starting pitcher
Kip Bouknight, who allowed just a run on two hits over seven innings
McCutchen came to the plate in the third inning with one out and
Brandon Chaves on third, but the Pirates top prospect popped
up a 2-0 pitch on the infield
McCutchen made the most of his next hitters count in drilling
Aeros pitcher Kyle Collins 2-0 fastball over the wall in
left for a four-run cushion
I got a little over-anxious in the first at-bat McCutchen
said
I learned from that and slowed myself down
Bouknight, who carried a no-hitter for 5-1/3 innings, turned in
his fourth consecutive quality start
The right-hander has lasted seven innings in three of his past
four starts, during which hes allowed five runs in 27 innings
We were in position to win because Kip kept us in the game
Curve manager Tim Leiper said
We were lucky
He gave us a chance to make an adjustment
Brett Ronebergs
pinch-hit single, which started the scoring in the four-run seventh
off Collins (0-2), snapped a 1-1 tie and helped Bouknight (3-0)
get the win
Bouknight stayed with it and kept us in the game McCutchen
said
For him to do that, it almost seems like we have to get
that win for him
McCutchen homered for the second consecutive game, his first two
long balls of the season
Its like the weight of the world lifted off his shoulders
Leiper said
Its a better game here
Hes a guy opposing pitchers bear down on
Theyre not gonna give him cookies
Bouknight struck out four, walked one and lowered his ERA to 2.45
Argenis Reyes broke up his no-hitter on a one-out single in the
sixth
The reputation on me is Im a grinder who gives the
team a chance to win, and thats what I want to continue
to do Bouknight, who has spent parts of the past four seasons
in the Eastern League, said
Catcher Dave Parrish, playing before learning of his promotion
to Triple-A Indianapolis, went 2-for-4 with an RBI
His bloop single down
the right field line, in what Leiper called a gigantic
at-bat, put runners at the corners to precede Ronebergs
go-ahead RBI single in the seventh
Im glad we took two of three from those guys
Parrish said of winning the series
Leiper, who expressed dissatisfaction with his teams passive
approach at the plate in the games early innings, held a
brief team meeting in the clubhouse after the game but downplayed
the significance
We were able to survive not coming out and following the
game plan the manager said
We want to make sure we attack what theyre doing as
opposed to waiting a couple innings
