Heard during the game
(01) As he was giving out the starting lineups, the commentator mentioned - "The starting pitcher for Bowie tonight is lefthander Craig Anderson ... Craig is from Australia, and was a teammate of Brett's when the Australian Team won a Silver Medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics ... tonight they will be going against each other!!!"

Game Reports
Kip Bouknight shut down the Bowie Baysox for
seven innings and the offense finally broke through in the eighth,
as the Curve took game three from the Baysox 3-1, and the series
two-games-to-one
Bouknight was sensational for Altoona, allowing Bowie just one
hit over seven scoreless innings to claim his first win of the
season and improve his record to (1-0)
Bouknight struck out three on the night and never found himself
in significant trouble despite five walks
However, the outcome of the ballgame was certainly in doubt upon
his departure
Offensively, Altoona never found traction against Bowie starter
Craig Anderson
Anderson was also magnificent, firing six scoreless innings while
allowing just five Curve hits
The ballgame went scoreless to the eighth inning, when the Curve
offense finally got going, scoring three times against Bowie reliever
Rommie Lewis Jr
Taber Lee led off the inning with a single, and was sacrificed
to second by Milver Reyes
Vic Buttler's third single of the night brought home Lee to break
the scoreless tie
Buttler also advanced to second on the throw which went to the
plate to try to cut down Lee
Brandon Chaves took a walk, and when Neil Walker singled, the
bases were loaded for Randy Ruiz
Ruiz maximized the Curve's output by adding a two-run single to
score Buttler and Chaves and make it 3-0 Altoona
Dave Davidson picked up where Bouknight left off, turning in a
scoreless bottom of the eighth
Davidson found early trouble in ninth, but was able to steady
himself after allowing the lone Bowie run of the ballgame and
close it out for a 3-1 win
Davidson earned his first save of the season for his two innings
of service
Anderson received a no-decision despite his six scoreless innings
of work
Lewis Jr. took the loss for the Baysox and fell to (0-1) on the
season
The win gave the Curve the series win after the two clubs split
a doubleheader last night at Prince George's Stadium
The series win is the first of the season for the Curve after
dropping their first two series to Akron and Reading respectively
Altoona returns home to begin an eight-game homestand tomorrow
The homestand begins with four games against the Harrisburg Senators
First pitch for game one is at 6.35pm
RHP Luis Munoz (1-0) will make the start for the Curve
RHP Collin Balester (1-0) will oppose him for Harrisburg
Kip Bouknight surrendered one hit over seven
scoreless innings as visiting Altoona beat Bowie, 3-1, on Wednesday
night
Bouknight (1-0) walked leadoff batter Paco Figueroa, then retired
the next seven batters before Ryan Hubele singled to left field
with one out in the third
The 28-year-old right-hander walked five and struck out three
as he lowered his ERA to 2.77
He walked Matt Cepicky and Nolan Reimold with one out in the seventh
before uncorking a wild pitch that allowed pinch-runner Jeff Fiorentino
to move to third
Bouknight escaped the jam as shortstop Brandon Chaves nailed Fiorentino
at the plate on an attempted double steal before Oscar Salazar
popped out
David Davidson replaced Bouknight and picked up his first save
despite allowing one run on a hit and a walk over the final two
frames
The Curve (4-5) scored all their runs in the eighth on Vic Buttler's
RBI single and Randy Ruiz's two-run single with the bases loaded
All three runs came off reliever Rommie Lewis Jr. (0-1), who took
the loss after giving up four hits and a walk with one strikeout
over two frames
In the ninth, Fiorentino delivered an RBI groundout to plate Figueroa,
who walked three times, for the Baysox (6-6)
Bowie starter Craig Anderson tossed six shutout innings, yielding
five hits and a walk while fanning one
The Australian left-hander has allowed just one run over 11 innings
for an 0.82 ERA
The rubber match of the first series between
the Baysox and Curve in 2007 saw a pitchers duel between
Baysox starter Craig Anderson and Curve starter Kip Bouknight
Andersons only blemish over the first two innings was a
lead-off single by Vic Buttler in the first
But Anderson was equally matched by Curve starter Kip Bouknight
The Curve starter turned in an impressive seven innings pitched,
giving up only one hit, no runs, with five walks and three Ks
Anderson finished the game, turning in six innings of five hit
ball, with one walk, and one strikeout
All three Curve runs came in the eighth inning off of Baysox reliever
Rommie Lewis, who spelled Anderson from the game
Vic Buttler slapped a single to left scoring Taber Lee for the
first run of the ballgame, giving Altoona a 1-0 lead
Randy Ruiz would then connect on a two-RBI single to right, scoring
Buttler and Brandon Chaves from second, giving the Curve a 3-0
advantage
The Baysox only had two hits on the night
The first came in the third inning when catcher Ryan Hubele connected
on a single to left
Shortstop Luis Hernandez was responsible for the second hit of
the night for the Baysox in the bottom of the ninth, with a single
through the hole at second
Hernandez advanced to second and Paco Figueroa advanced to third
on a wild pitch by Dave Davidson in the very next at bat
Jeff Fiorentino then grounded out for the second out of the ninth,
but Figueroa came across for the lone Baysox run of the night
Nolan Reimold then grounded out to end the ballgame, giving the
Curve the rubber match of the three-game series, 3-1
Lewis took the loss for the Baysox dropping his record to (0-1)
on the season
Bouknight, who had a fabulous outing, notched his first win of
the season (1-0)
Dave Davidson who gave up the only Baysox run of the game, picked
up the save his first of the season
The loss drops Bowies record to 6-6 on the season, while
the Curve moved to one game below .500 at 4-5
The Baysox now embark on an eight-game road trip, taking on the
Erie SeaWolves for four games, then on to Altoona for four
In a game filled with quality pitching, the
Curve didnt have many scoring chances on which to capitalize
Vic Buttler and Randy Ruiz made the most of the limited cracks
in Bowies pitching staff
Each came through with run-scoring singles in a three-run eighth
inning
Altoona topped Bowie, 3-1, at Prince George Stadium in the rubber
match of the three-game series
Taber Lee started the eighth inning with a single and moved to
second on Milver Reyes sacrifice
Lee scored on Butlers third hit of the game, a single
A Brandon Chaves walk and Neil Walker single to right-center field
loaded the bases for Ruiz, whose single to right plated two more
runs and gave the win for Curve starter Kip Bouknight (1-0)
Bowies Rommie Lewis (0-1), who relieved Craig Anderson after
six scoreless innings, took the loss
Only once before the eighth inning - on a Chaves leadoff double
in the sixth - did the Curve have a runner in scoring position
That opportunity was squandered when Chaves was picked off after
being caught breaking toward third base
The only imperfection in Bouknights seven innings of work
was the five free passes he issued
Otherwise, Bouknight held the Baysox to one hit and faced only
three batters over the minimum
Dave Davidson, who retired the side in the eighth inning before
facing some turmoil in the ninth, earned his first career save
Davidson walked Paco Figueroa after being ahead, 0-2, in the count
Luis Hernandez singled, and Davidsons wild pitch placed
runners on second and third with no outs
But Davidson induced a short pop-up to left field and two groundouts
to save the game over the Sox
