Thomas Haller
German Musical Bracket Carriage Clock
This auction is for a charming
little German musical alarm clock
It features a paper covered dial, a nickle plated case
with a fancy brass insert surrounding the dial and a brass rear
latching door
It is made in the style of a typical "carriage clock"
and includes a musical box
The music box in this clock works well and plays for an extended
time!
When sitting on a wood surface such as a nightstand, bedside table
or in another place in the home, the sound of the music box is
greatly amplified
and fills the room with a delightful melody
The dial paper is like new
The clock is complete with the original winding key
and the little stub inside the rear door used to hang the winding
key is still in place
The key has the words "VIGOR-GERMANY" stamped on one
side
and "C M 601" stamped on the other side
Condition - nickle plating with some worn spots - one broken glass
- original paper covered dial in excellent condition - music box
plays beautifully
This little clock has the usual "worn" spots where the
nickle-plating
has been polished through (see photographs) but not nearly as
bad as most on the market
No one uses these antique alarm clocks as their primary wake-up
device
They just don't keep time as accurately as the quartz bedside
alarm clocks
On the other hand these clocks have all the charm of the Black
Forest
clockmaking industry and the music box is a pure delight!
