"Fabulous Vintage Carriage Clock"

A note from Geoff on Friday 7th July 2006

This clock was listed on Ebay and the details are below

At first glance, it appears to be exactly the same as Sharon's

However, there are some major differences!!!
#01
- Sharon's has two small dials on the clock face - this has only one
#02 - It does not have the Maker's Trademark on the clock face
#03 - The minute hand is not the same
#04 - The base seems to be very slightly different
#05 - The front panel has different scroll marks
#06 - The mechanism appears to be different

The overall style of the clock is very, very similar
#01
- The top and handle are the same
#02 - The door looks to be of the same fluted material
#03 - The key holder is the same
#04 - The glass sides look to be the same style
#05 - The clocks are exactly the same size

Finally, Sharon's clock is in excellant working condition
whereas this one, as the seller states, is not working
and is more suitable for a restorer!!
Naturally this will effect the final selling price of the item

Could this be just a 'cheap imitation' of Sharon's brand-name clock??

......and there are more photos below

Fabulous Vintage Carriage Clock
For The Restorer
This is a gorgeous vintage carriage clock that would suit the restorer
This piece is not in working condition but most of the movement appears to be intact
The clock still has the original key
It has glass panels on each side revealing the beautiful intricate movement
The dial and second hand are in excellent condition as is the glass cover
The case also shows some wear
but with some 'tender-loving-care' this piece could be easily restored to its original beauty
It stands 17.5cm high including handle x 13.0cm wide x 9.5cm deep

Item location - Central Coast, New South Wales Australia
This auction ended on Sunday 9th July 2006
The starting price was set at $20.00 and there were sixteen bids during the auction
The final selling price was $149.50

So I would guess that Sharon's might bring a FANTASTIC price
if we were to auction it off one day!!!
......but that is not going to happen!!!
