It's my Birthday!!
......and it's Number ??? ------ I really don't want to work it out!!

NOTE - there are 23 photos on this page - some small and some large
The page may take a few extra seconds to download completely

How I spent My Day

My day started out great because Tanya rang early in the morning to say 'hi' - she is floating around the Greek Islands
It was lovely to talk to her because I miss her very much
We had a nice chat and then I went back to bed

I climbed out again at about 10.00am
Which I think is a very civilised hour for a 'birthday girl'!!
There was no-one home - my Darling Husband and Brett had gone over for baseball training and Tanya was in Europe
I had a shower - a very leisurely one!!

Presents - yes, I got two!!

I needed a new bag because the old one wasn't big enough to hold all the stuff I carry around - especially my water bottle
This "Colorado Genuine Leather Bag" is 24cm high and 20 cm wide and has heaps of room inside plus a special pocket for my mobile phone
The straps are 30cm long, just right for either carrying or wearing over the shoulder

And I needed a new wallet because the old one was falling to bits and all my money was getting lost!!
This one is very slim and I call it 'downsizing' - but it has plenty of room for the all important credit cards!! - and I just have to learn not to cram it full of junk like I did with the old one

Both are really nice, and I like the black-and-red colours together

Then it was time to be taken out to lunch by my Son who, by the way, is home for my Birthday for the first time in ten years!

We went to L'Unico on the Esplanade at Trinity Beach

Brett had chicken ceasar salad - looked nice, but not "exciting"!!

And now to me
I started off with bruscetta which was yummy and then I had a roasted vegetable stack with goats cheese, and it was, to use one of Tanya's favourite words, "delish"!!
Something a bit different and it was scrumptious

We then went across the road to the another cafe and we each had an Almond Magnum

Then some fun started!!
As we were walking across the road to the Esplanade to sit on the beach I went over on my ankle and fell completely over!!
I managed to hang on to the Magnum but I couldn't get up for a few minutes
Brett was concerned that some-one might have seen me!!

I then came home and have been looking at dozens of new photos of my Daughter cavorting on the other side if the world

So far the day has been pretty good - except the falling over bit!!

And we are having fish'n'chips for dinner - which means no dishes or cleaning up

That's a nice finish to a very nice day!!

Tuesday 23rd August 2005

My Birthday continued on to the next day as well!!

My friends Anne and Karlie and Rhona took me to the Tosca Trattoria Bar and Pizzeria in the Cairns Central Shopping Centre for dinner

While we were there they gave me a bottle of Elizabeth Arden "Red Door" perfume

Dinner was great and then we all went and saw the movie, "Wedding Crashers"
It was very funny and we had a good laugh

After that we had a coffee on the Cairns Esplanade - and I didn't fall over on this one!!

It was a really nice evening

A note, card and gift from Sharon's friend, Anne Kippin

Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!
I missed your birthday
I thought this morning when I got up - "It must be Sharon's birthday soon"
So I rang from work and Brett gave me the news that I had missed it
So -- Happy Birthday for Yesterday
Hope you had a great day
There was a message from Geoff on the answering machine when I got home tonight telling me you were out on the town with the girls
Hope you had a great time
I might try to come out early on Friday night and call in for a coffee
Happy Birthday again
Love
Anne

The Elvis Album
Millie Ridge
White cover - 2004 edition

Originally released in 1991, this delightful hardcover is one of those photobooks designed to please most fans
The 2004 reissue from Greenwich Editions in the UK and Australia features a new cover (with dust jacket) and is competitively priced
Unlike the specialist photobooks published by Ger Rijff and Joe Tunzi, The Elvis Album is not a slimline volume
Throughout its 300+ pages you may have seen most of the visuals before, but thanks to a first rate book design it is a book you can't help but enjoy
The chapters flow chronologically from The Hillbilly Cat to Elvis' resurgence as a live performer
With a heady mix of full page photos and montage selections, The Elvis Album is literally cram packed with a blend of color and b&w photos that reach out and grab your attention
There are many great photos in The Elvis Album and some of my favorites include
----Elvis in his two-piece black jumpsuit on opening night in Vegas in 1969
----film posters from around the world
----numerous informal candids of Elvis circa 1968-70
----candids of Elvis with fans in the 1950's
----several shots of The King with his natural hair color
----interesting magazine covers
----Elvis & Priscilla in Germany
----the original Elvis and Larry Blong (clone) photo
Other notable visuals include Elvis and Bill Haley and Elvis with a young Nancy Sinatra following his discharge from the Army
If I have any criticism of The Elvis Album it is that there should have been a lot more of Millie Ridge's sparse text
However, this arguably won't annoy too many fans as in any photobook it is the visuals that fans want to see
Verdict
The Elvis Album should deservedly enjoy brisk sales over the Christmas-New Year season
Buy it either for yourself or a friend
You won't be disappointed

......and finally, a Surprise!!!

My Darling Wife
