Stunning!!!
Christmas is almost here and this radio would make a great gift
for your darling wife
or your son or daughter!!
Or perhaps your grandchildren or your best friend!!
This is a 'first' for Ebay and also the 'first' reproduction Bakelite
radio
offered for sale anywhere in the world for over fifty years!
What you are looking at is an exact copy of one of Australias
favourite radios THE CLASSIC ART DECO TASMA MODEL 1005 of 1947
The Radio One Black example before you for sale is an exact copy
of the
original cabinet as are the knobs which are also Bakelite (phenolic
resin)
Bakelite is a trademark name
These radios were made by my good friends at "Retro 1951"
of Dallas Texas USA
and my business - "Mr Collectables" - has been given
the Distributorship rights
to sell this wonderful product throughout Australasia
The components and the speaker are high quality
and the radio is an 'AM' and 'FM' transistor receiver with a head
phone socket
The audio quality is outstanding
as is the sensitivity and performance on both bands
No expense has been spared to produce a radio that will impress
now and for years to come
You will also notice that the back-plate is finished off superbly
with a flush finish and is also Bakelite
As is the case of days gone by, the process for the manufacture
of this example is an
original process that uses powders and heat under great pressures
to form these mouldings
The photography was achieved under natural 'skylight' lighting
and is an accurate colour
This will make a great addition to your collection
This radio is wonderfully packaged and comes with instructions
and a twelve month full warranty and it will be honoured here
in Australia
This radio would make an ideal Christmas gift for you and your
children or perhaps your Dad!!
Please email me for accurate costs and any questions you may have
before biding please
Good Luck
Mort

As pointed out in the above description, "Mr Collectables"
has been appointed
the Australiasian Distributor of these radios
As you will have noticed, this description was written just prior
to Christmas 2005
However, the radios are a permanent item in this Ebay Store,
and the price was set at $299.00 So that is what we
paid - $299.00 plus postage and insurance
This radio is listed
in the above publication Reference page 182
This would be the
original, whereas ours is a reproduction
......and here
is an excerpt from the auction details listed above What you are

Auction #01
This one would be
an original, not a reproduction like ours
As you can see, it is a bit "beat-up"!!!
Will be interesting to see what price it brings - if any - what
a price!!!
Vintage Tasma
Ivory Art Deco Bakelite Tube Valve Radio On it's
glass dial the letters 'KGH' appear
The chassis is loose from it's casing
and someone has tried to secure it in place with packaging tape
The case itself is in excellent order
and there is only slight rubbing around where tuning control goes
The backing card for the tuning dial is missing
Also the knobs have gone astray
I haven't switched it on as its insulation is worn
I would recommend a licensed electrician replace it before use
I am selling it "as it is"
The radio measures 12.5" wide by 6.5" deep by 8"
high
Item location - Australia
This auction ended on Friday 22nd September 2006
The starting price was set at $25.00 and there were eleven bids
during the auction The final selling
price was $260.00!!!

Auction #02
This one would also
be an original, not a reproduction like ours
Rare Boston
(Tasma - ??) Bakelite Valve Radio Due to a
change in my interests I am selling some more of my valve radio
collection
Here is a Boston valve radio
In all the collecting that I have done,
this is the only Boston branded radio that I have ever seen
It shares the same case as the ever popular Tasma
The case is in superb condition and has a beautiful lusterous
shine
It has it's original dial - though some station numbers are missing
It also has the original knobs (I think!!)
It is a replacement speaker cloth
The chassis is clean and the radio works quite well
However, it could do with a longer aerial though for better reception
This radio would be a credit to any collection or if you are just
after a show piece,
this one is hard to ignore!! Item location - Blue
Mountains, Australia
This auction ended on Sunday 24th September 2006
The starting price was set at $100.00 and there were ten bids
during the auction The final selling
price was $152.50

Auction #03
Another original
and this one appears to be in perfect condition
--- and look at the final selling price!!!
Art Deco Tasma
Valve Radio On offer
is this extremely rare and beautiful dark green Tasma valve radio
Model 1001 - known as "The Tasma Baby"
It is in very good working order as it has recently been overhauled
The case is in excellent order, as are the original knobs
There are no cracks, hairlines or chips to be found
The chassis looks great as well
This superb example would make a terrific addition to your collection
as it presents very well
It is all original, and in an extremely rare colour NOTE - you may have recently seen a replica to this
radio on offer on Ebay
Made from bakelite, in caramel and black, with AM/FM bands, etc,
etc
But this is the real thing!!!
From the early 1940's!!! Question from a bidder
I know this shows all the signs of being original but be careful
as the mould pressing on the base of the cabinet is the same type
as the coloured repro's
The original green cabinet was what is called a granite green
- very dark and of a speckle nature - not a mould pressure streak
as shown
Does this cabinet show any signs of wear?
I hope this item is real but there is so much repo junk around
Good luck with your sale - it certainly looks nice ......and the reply
Hi, yes it is 100% original and not a repro
I know this - when I acquired from an old bloke in Port Stephens
who'd had it since new
It was very dull and dusty and I've polished it to this beautiful
finish you can see
I've had it for more than ten years and that's long before the
repros came on to the market
The streaking in the base can be quite normal
as I have various other bakelite radios and a majority have the
same streaking
The repros may look the same and that's because they use the same
master dies
as were used back in the 1940's and the fact that they are actually
bakelite themselves
I have seen them up close at the last Canberra Phono Radio Fest
Thank you for your inquiry
Regards, Baz Question from a bidder
G'day, and this looks to be a very nice radio!
You'd have me hooked if I liked dark green!
Are you planning to sell any other interesting coloured radios?
Cheers ......and the reply
This colour is extremely rare colour in any brand radio
My good friend (who has been collecting vintage radios more than
thirty years in
Warner's Bay NSW) says this is the first time he's seen a Tasma
'Baby' in this colour
Looks even better in the flesh!
I do have some other coloured radios but not sure if I'll sell
them yet
I'll see how this one goes first
I do have another two sets on offer on Ebay - check them out!
Thanks for your inquiry

Macquarie, NSW Australia
