Hey Geoff
Really sorry to hear about Brett's injury
I was going to contact you shortly, to see if he was raring to
go in '05,
and how he was doing
If Brett wasn't the kind to give 100% effort on every play, in
every game,
and only gave a half-hearted effort in trying to make the play
on which he was injured,
in all probability, he wouldn't have hurt his shoulder,
but we know that's not his game
I will keep him in my prayers, and I hope he comes back, stronger
than ever,
which I'm sure he will
My best to you all, "Down Under," and my thoughts will
be with you all

Just remember to take it easy, do you exercises and relax

Hi Joffry
Sorry to hear about Brett's bad luck
Damned if I could make head or tail of what that doc wrote on
the Red Sox Injury Report!!
All quacks should be forced to write proper english if they wish
to practice the profession!
Imagine the mistakes that chemists must make trying to interpret
that shit!
Cheers
Craig

Geoff

Hi Geoff
I was really sorry to read about Bretts Injury and Release
(Shocked actually)
Makes you realize how ones life can change so suddenly
Would you please pass on my families support for Bretts
recovery?
I know he will be very positive about his recovery and comeback
I feel for you and your family at this time
and I know the journey back will be tough and painful
Even though I do not know Brett personally I have followed his
Baseball career
since the Bandits days
Brett seems to be a very determined soul in whatever task he approaches
He is an inspiration to many a young baseball player
(Especially my son James)
I will keep in touch and look forward to following Bretts
recovery in the months ahead
Tom Snyder (USA)

Let me know if I can be of any assistance
Keep in touch

Hi All
Have been way too busy to keep in touch with others
- but we think about and talk about you all often
We've been wondering where Brett will be playing this year
and took a second to check out your site for any news
And NEWS I did read - shocked and saddened
Didn't have time to read all the news but printed everything out
and watched the video clip
I can't even think of any words at the moment
- I need to read and have a bit of time to think about this SHOCK!!!!
Had I not seen him in a sling I still wouldn't believe it
One More Thing
I KNOW HE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!
No doubt in my mind
More later

Monday 21st February
2005
I just heard that the Red Sox STUPIDLY released Brett
Has he signed with anybody yet?
I was surprised as I had heard that the Red Sox had re-signed
him and John Stephens
I was hoping to try and meet Brett during Spring Training
As I once told you, his Medal, along with Stephen's, was not only
for Australia,
but for Red Sox Nation!
I'm hoping the Red Sox realize they made a mistake and re-sign
him!
Thanks for your time
Scott Levison

Hi Scott
and we appreciate your email
Maybe this will clarify why the Red Sox released Brett!!!
Disappointing for him ------ but there is the 2006 season coming
up!!!
Regards
Geoff

Geoff
I hadn't head about his injury over here and hadn't noticed it
on the Red Sox web page
I'm surprised that the Red Sox didn't offer to help Brett rehab
down in Ft. Myers
That way he'd have the organizations doctors work with him
and the Sox could keep a close eye on his progress
I was looking forward to reading about him playing for the PawSox
- he'd only have been an hour away from Fenway
Is it all right if I send two photos to get signed?
One is Brett as a Sea Dog that I got from their website
and the other is from Athens where he's getting a hit
Send Brett my best wishes and hopefully he will be back with the
Red Sox in 2006
or maybe even earlier!
Thanks for your time

Hi again
It did come up in discussions about Brett doing some of his rehab
in the USA,
but the final decision was for him to stay in Australia
However, he is in constant contact with the trainers and the physios
over there
At the moment it is all "just getting the arm working again"
type of exercises,
but he has a fairly busy program with the Australian Baseball
Federation
later in the year to get back to game condition
Yes, sure, send the photos over - the address is at the bottom
of this email
--- and just include a note of what you would like him to write,
where on the photo, etc, etc so it will be how you want it
2006 Season??? - yes, he'll be there!!!
Bye
Geoff

Brett Roneberg
I just wanted to let the Curve fans know that Brett had an injury
to his shoulder
and had to have surgery on it in January
If you want the full report, go to 'www.ronebergcairns.com'
and make sure to keep Brett and his family in your thoughts
We wish him a speedy recovery!
(to read this article in it's original
form, click on the above logo and then scroll down the page)
'Flintoff & Dunn' have
been flooded with interest about the status of one of Australia's
finest young baseball stars BRETT RONEBERG with the recent
announcement that he had been released from his 2005 contract
with the Boston Red Sox.
We knew that Brett had injured his shoulder while playing winter
ball in Venezuela, but we were waiting for the right time to bring
you an update about his progress and future.
I did respond to some of you that we would get the "latest
and best" information for you in due course, and now your
patience has been rewarded!
I must admit that the reason we are able to bring you this scoop
is because we have regular contact with Brett's family in Cairns
and his father Geoff, who arranged this news for us, is one of
our earliest and most loyal subscribers from the very start of
our publications, way back in 1997.
There are a lot of good people in baseball, but you would go a
long way to find better than the Roneberg family!
Here is the news direct from Australia's 2004 Helms Award Winner
and 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist
Brett Roneberg
4 MAR 2005 - BRETT RONEBERG
ON THE WAY BACK!
THE INJURY?
Brett was playing in The Venezuelan Baseball League, and was based
in Caracas.
On the day of the injury, he was not listed to play
His team was taking batting practice, and the rightfielder mentioned
to Brett that "You are in because I can't go"
During the game he made the diving catch in rightfield, but as
soon as he stood to throw the ball in he thought "I knew
I did some damage but didn't think it was to the extent I found
it out to be"
The shoulder surgery he underwent is very similar to what Travis
Blackley just had
REHABILITATION?
At the moment Brett is six weeks post-surgery, and is currently
doing a fairly intensive rehabilitation program in conjunction
with physiotherapist visits twice a week
He is going to gym each day to work on his legs and lower body,
but is still two weeks away from being able to start running -
and six weeks away from picking up a ball and having a throw
THE NEAR FUTURE?
"My plans for now are to continue with the rehab until the
Academy starts on the Gold Coast later this year
I am going to help with the coaching until I am able to play and
then hopefully get ready for the World Championships in Holland
during September
As for USA-pro-ball, I have been told I will be given an opportunity
to sign next year with Boston if I am healthy
I just have to prove that I am ready to go!"
ABOUT PLAYING IN VENEZUELA?
"Baseball in Venezuela? - well, I must say that the spectators
follow the game with a passion!
There is a continual noise throughout the game - and this is combined
with loud music and dancing girls between the innings
It was a real experience!"

FLINTOFF AND DUNN COMMENT
Obviously we wish Brett all the very best for his recovery and
a speedy return to what has already been a spectacular career.
Few players, other than David Nilsson, have achieved as much as
Brett has on the AMLB scene and as an international player for
Australia at such a relatively young age.
The one thing that remains on his horizon is a crack as the US
Major League and, while we do not want to disparage any other
players, it is true to say that a few Australians with lesser
talents than Brett Roneberg have been fortunate enough to be in
the right place at the right time to get this opportunity!
As Adrian Dunn wrote in our latest book, all he needs is to get
the opportunity and we're sure he'll prove himself again, as he
has done at every other level in baseball - we sincerely hope
that he gets that big break!

Bretts rehab
Hi Geoff
Just had a few minutes to read all the notes and click on the
links on "Brett's Injury" page
And I tell ya what!! - if I get hurt and need rehab I am moving
down to your carport
I think the 'carport gym' looks like paradise working out
and exercising in those pools look like heaven!!!
I'm sure it wasn't heaven for him working out so much
but it appears that he did everything right (which I never doubted)
Loved seeing the photos of hitting and throwing again and the
famous smile on his face
Thank you for the update
I had no doubt that he would do what was needed and back at it
in no time
Seems like he's rolling right along
Keep us posted on his next ventures
Diane
