Physician - Mr Matthew Evans

Matthew is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and knee.

Born in Gippsland, Matthew grew up in Melbourne and attained his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 1992.

He subsequently completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training in Victoria , becoming a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.

In 2003 Matthew and his wife Kate travelled to Boston , Massachusetts where he undertook subspecialty fellowship training in knee surgery.

This was followed by a second fellowship in London , England in 2004.
This fellowship focussed on the shoulder, both arthroscopic and replacement surgery.

Prior to returning to Melbourne to join the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group, Matthew undertook a course in advanced Ilizarov frame technique in Italy.

In addition to his partnership in the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group, Matthew holds an orthopaedic consultant appointment at Box Hill Hospital.

Throughout his career Matthew has maintained an interest in orthopaedic research, and his work has been presented and published both nationally and internationally.

Matthew's practice now encompasses all facets of knee and shoulder surgery, with particular interest in shoulder instability syndromes and rotator cuff surgery.

Matthew and Kate enjoy a full and active life with their young son Nicholas.
Interests include golf, tennis, theatre and modern art.
