Heard during the game
(1) During the top of the fourth innings, a Senators batter drove
the ball towards the leftfield corner - the commentator said that
"Roneberg played that well and very nicely as he cut the
ball off, turned and made the one-hop throw all in one motion,
and what should have been an easy double resulted in a close play
at second base"
(2) As Brett came in for his third at-bat, the commentator said that "Roneberg has hit the ball very hard twice tonight resulting in a line-out to left and a double to right-centre" (then he struck out!!!)
(3) During the top of the seventh
inning "Brett made a leaping catch right up against the
wall to rob a Senators batter of an extra base hit"
The commentator went on to say "that was hit just to the
right of the scoreboard and would have hit about eight feet up
the "Maine Monster" and Roneberg made a fine catch which
would have to be considered as a candidate for "The Catch
of the Day"
(4) After the hit in his fourth at-bat, the commentator said "that hit gives Roneberg 15 multi-hit games from the 42 he has played this season which is a very good average and he leads the Sea Dogs in that category"
(5) He also mentioned that "his 2-from-4 today moves his average up to 0.299"

Game Reports
Five and counting
The Portland Sea Dogs are starting to piece it all together.
Portland completed a three-game sweep of the Harrisburg Senators
Sunday at Hadlock Field with a 6-2 victory built with strong pitching,
hearty bats and sound defense.
Jerome Gamble pitched six scoreless innings and the Sea Dogs took
charge with a two-out, four-run rally in the fourth inning.
"Guys went out hacking. We're starting to feel good and do
things as a team right now," said third baseman John Hattig,
who had a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
"Pitching has always been there. Our hitting is starting
to come around."
Gamble, who also won his last start, gave up no runs and seven
hits through six innings to improve to 3-2.
"This was right up there for him," said Portland Manager
Ron Johnson.
"He's thrown two good ones in a row, which is positive. He
could have gone longer, but we wanted to get some other guys in
there."
Gamble retired the leadoff batter in four innings and gave up
only one extra-base hit.
"I'm learning I've got to mix my pitches more in the game
because it helps me keep guys off my fastball," said Gamble.
"Around here, (five straight) wins is a big boost."
The win was significant for the Sea Dogs, considering it marked
the first time since April 2002 they won five in a row.
It bodes well for the club's psyche, said Johnson.
"It's an attitude and atmosphere," he said. "When
you can put together some strings (of wins), the rhythm of the
games just starts to feel good.
"And we've had different characters chiming in here."
The afternoon game hummed along until Portland broke it open with
four hits in the fourth.
With two outs, Kenny Perez and Sheldon Fulse hit RBI doubles off
left-hander David Maust, who then left in favor of Saul Rivera.
Raul Nieves and Jeff Bailey each promptly singled home a run to
give the Sea Dogs a 4-0 lead.
Portland added a run in the sixth when Perez singled, stole second
and moved to third on an error before scoring on a sacrifice fly
by Fulse.
The Senators got two runs in the seventh off Eric Glaser.
Jeremy Ware singled to drive in Melvin Dorta, and Larry Broadway
scored on Rich Lane's single.
Hattig's sacrifice fly
scored Brett Roneberg in the seventh for Portland's final run.
Juan Perez pitched a scoreless ninth for the Sea Dogs, aided by
his defense.
After Broadway's leadoff single, Fulse crashed into the Megabucks
billboard in center field to catch a long drive by Jeremy Ware.
After Lane singled, the Sea Dogs turned a double play to end the
game.

SEA DOGS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT GAME
6-2 Win Over Harrisburg Completes Sweep
Jerome Gamble tossed six shutout innings to help the Portland
Sea Dogs complete the first three-game sweep of the Harrisburg
Senators since 1994 with a 6-2 win Sunday afternoon.
Gamble allowed seven hits and two walks, fanning three in six
innings.
He went 2-0 this week with an ERA of 0.75.
Portland scored four runs in the fourth inning on four straight
two-out run-scoring hits by Kenny Perez, Sheldon Fulse, Raul Nieves
and Jeff Bailey.
Perez finished with two runs scored and an RBI and Fulse drove
in a pair.
Portland has won five games in a row for the first time since
April 2002.
The Sea Dogs begin a three-game series with the Northern Division-leading
Binghamton Mets on Monday.
Eastern League Game Summary - Harrisburg at Portland
Jerome Gamble tossed six innings of shutout ball and Sheldon Fulse
had two RBI and a run scored to pace the Portland Sea Dogs to
a 6-2 win over the Harrisburg Senators Sunday afternoon.
Gamble improved to 3-2 with the win.
He allowed seven hits, struck out three and walked two to lead
the Sea Dogs (19-24) to their fifth straight win.
Fulse went 1-for-3, and had an RBI double that highlighted a four-run
fourth inning.
Kenny Perez also had an RBI double in the fourth and scored a
pair of runs.
Raul Nieves set the table in the leadoff spot for Portland, going
3- for-5 with a run knocked in and scored a run.
David Maust (1-2) suffered the loss for Harrisburg.
Maust yielded three runs on four hits in 3 2/3rd innings.
Harrisburg has dropped four straight and are in the cellar of
the Southern Division at 14-28.
Jeremy Ware and Rich Lane each knocked in a run for the Senators.
Senators can't break offensive drought
Thanks to the Eastern League schedule, the Senators make only
one trip here each season.
Just as well for Harrisburg.
Once again unable to solve one of the Class AA EL's poorest pitching
staffs, the Senators fell 6-2 yesterday to the Portland Sea Dogs
before a crowd of 6,157 at Hadlock Field.
In sweeping the three-game series, the Sea Dogs (19-24) sent the
Senators (14-28) to their sixth loss in seven games and 24th in
the last 32.
The wasted weekend for the Senators saw them score only four runs
in 27 innings against a Portland pitching staff that began yesterday's
game with a 4.70 earned-run average -- the second-worst ERA in
the 12-team league.
For the series, the Senators scored only two runs in 22 innings
against Portland starters Josh Stevens, Charlie Zink and Jerome
Gamble (3-2), the latter of whom worked six shutout innings yesterday.
No greater waste came than in the series finale as the Senators
totaled a season-high 14 hits against Gamble and two relievers
but left 13 runners on base as they went 3-for-16 with runners
in scoring position.
The Senators, with their league-low .218 batting average, did
not score until two outs in the seventh inning on back-to-back
RBI singles by Jeremy Ware and Rich Lane off reliever Eric Glaser.
Ware's RBI snapped the Senators' scoreless streak at 19 innings,
marking their first run since Lane's RBI double with two outs
in the sixth inning of Friday's 4-2 loss.
By the time Harrisburg scored yesterday, Portland had built a
5-2 lead off spot starter David Maust (1-2), and relievers Saul
Rivera and Jon Searles.
Four of those runs came in the fourth inning off Maust and Rivera
on four straight two-out hits - RBI doubles by Kenny Perez and
Sheldon Fulse that were followed by run-scoring singles by Raul
Nieves and former Senator Jeff Bailey.
The Sea Dogs scored again in the sixth and seventh off Searles
on sacrifice flies by Fulse and Eric Johnson.

Labandeira has gone 2-for-23.
The Senators are 1-22 when trailing after seven innings.
