"Welcome back, mate"

Brett Roneberg wanted an opportunity to play every day this season and jumped at that chance when the Red Sox offered it in Portland.

"Nothing else is the key, mate" the Australian outfielder and former Curve player said.
"Playing every day is the key to getting to the big leagues."

Roneberg hit .281 with 10 homers and 61 RBIs to help the Curve reach the playoffs last season.

He said the job with the Red Sox was "the first offer I got" in the offseason.

"The guy who signed me is a friend of mine from Australia," Roneberg said.
"He said I was going to play everyday and there was no question in my mind I was here right away."

Roneberg said he "had a great time" in Altoona and added, "There's still a lot of (Curve fans) who keep in contact with my dad through my family's web site."
