All baseball playing States have been represented
in the squad with the largest quantity of players coming from
New South Wales (16).
Queensland is heavily represented with 10 players, followed by
Victoria with seven, South Australian with six, Western Australia
with three and our Nation's Capital being represented by one player.
The squad is immensely talented with over 75% being current
professional players, with the remaining 25% being ex-professionals.
Team Head Coach Jon Deeble is extremely excited about the strength
and depth of the squad and as such is very confident of obtaining
a great result at the Olympics.
The 43-man squad will eventually be cut down to the official Olympic
team roster of 24 players.
The National team
will be playing two Olympic qualifying events in the coming months.
Firstly, they will be playing
Guam in the Oceania Championships from 28th January to 1st February
2004.
Should they win that tournament they will play a series against
South Africa from 5th to 9th February 2004 at Blacktown, Sydney,
with Olympic qualification on the line.
