Semi Final #1
The Sharks Under 18 side showed their supremacy over their older
counterparts in the "B" Grade Semi Final.
The youngsters, led by Darren Wilson on the mound, shut Sharks
"B" down to two hits for the game to take a 14-0 victory.
Semi Final #2
In the other cross pool Semi
Final, the Heat v Bears match was a much tougher clash.
Heat outbatted Bears ten hits to three but only scrapped home
by the narrowest of scores.
Bears got the jump and led 5-0 after the first innings and Heat
levelled at six all after the second innings.
Heat went ti their first lead in the third innings and were leading
9-6 at the top of the fourth inning - with Bears having one bat
to go.
Bears came back solidly and a double from Scott Thomsett almost
put them ahead in the winners circle but Heat held on grimly to
win 9-8.
John Lythgo and Terry Beattie with three hits each were the best
for Heat and Thomsett crashed two for the Bears.
Heat and Sharks Under 18 then doubled back to meet head on in
the Grand Final.
Grand Final
In an upset in events, Sharks
fronted with a pitcher who had not played the required two games
in the fixture rounds and Heat took out the trophy on a forfeit.
An unfortunate turn of events, but it may inspire the clubs to
read their rules carefully in the future and maybe such events
will be avoided in the 1993 season.
