These Rides can only be described as 'SPECIAL'
There have been three so far and we have treasured every moment of each one
And have saved all the photos and videos that we could get our hands on
Each one is sad and heartbreaking to look at but also a beautiful memory of Our Girl

The month of May is fast approaching and we felt contact with you should be made
The question is simple ... Is there going to be a Ride this year ??

So easy to ask but, Emma, please, please understand that we can appreciate the amount of time involved in the organisation of something like this
We follow both you and EmPowerFX via Facebook and have seen your new activities and just how busy you must be

If the Ride does not go ahead, you will always have our love and gratitude for creating these 'Three Special Moments with Tanya Mary'

We miss her so much every single day ... but we get along okay and there is a lot of contact between us and her friends which is terrific
Although "Name Days" like christmas, birthdays, etc, can only be classed as awful
May is going to be hard, with Mother's Day and the Anniversary

Thank you again, Emma, for all you have done for us ... we feel privileged to be able to call you 'our friend'

The annual ‘Ride for Tanya’ will be held this Saturday May 7 and will again honour the memory of Tanya Roneberg, a local athlete whose life was cut tragically short in a traffic crash on the Captain Cook Highway near Thomatis Creek in May 2013

Tomorrow’s ride will be the fourth running of this event, which will commence at Aeroglen and proceed under police escort to Trinity Beach. Police will also conduct traffic control at strategic points along the route to assist with the safe running of the ride

Approximately 800 riders took part in last year’s ride and similar numbers are expected for the 2016 event

Riders are asked to form up at the Aeroglen touch football fields departure point at 6.30am for a safety briefing

The ride will then ride head south on Aeroglen Drive before turning left onto the Captain Cook Highway. Riders will then proceed north, utilising the left lane of the highway through Smithfield and onward to the Trinity Beach roundabout where they will turn right into Trinity Beach Road. The ride will then head along Trinity Beach Road before turning left onto Vasey Esplanade where it will conclude at the northernmost car park area

A memorial service will be held at that location

Police are recommending that novice bike riders, young families and riders not familiar with riding in a ‘pack’ consider supporting the ‘Ride for Tanya’ by attending the Vasey Esplanade destination point to welcome the participants as they finish their ride

It is expected that riders will begin to arrive at the destination point from about 8am

All participants are reminded to ensure their bike is in a roadworthy condition, safety equipment and helmets are in a serviceable condition, and that all normal road rules apply

Whilst the memorial ride will be conducted under a police escort, police will not be in a position to escort riders back into Cairns as it’s expected riders will depart at differing times

Riders are encouraged to consider planning their return trip and perhaps making alternative travel arrangements
