Kathy grew up in rural New South Wales and gained a deep love of the country at an early age With tuition and encouragement from many successful artists in Adelaide, Perth and Sydney, Kathy has developed into a confident, colourful and adventurous artist Artist and mentors such as Ronald Coudrey, Gary Lee-Gaston, Fred Klix, Reg Hicks, Reg Jordan, Irene Amos and Brian Malt have all been instrumental in her artistic development A variety of workshops and tuition undertaken in England and Australia also helped to form Kathys style She enjoys travelling and uses every opportunity to record the landscapes, elements and atmosphere Kathys earlier works were mainly watercolour and oil Many of Kathys later works are in acrylics which offer such rich colours and great flexibility in application Kathys work is represented in private collections in England, the United States, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand This has developed into an expression of my personal links with the earth Many of my paintings begin life as a watercolour sketch completed outdoors, surrounded by nature, where I really sense God's creative energy I enjoy using transparent watercolour, gouache, pencil and dry mediums for these reference sketches and smaller works I enjoy the finer aspect of drawing and like to record detail of place and a sense of reality in my outdoor sketches Dreams and inner visions sometimes form the basis of a new work The process of bringing an image out of the dream space and creating a physical image is a very exciting and rewarding one To me, colour and the creative attitude is a healing and energising force for both artist and viewer Welcome to my world . |
