Pattern - "Offley"

Vintage chintz - Royal Winton Grimwades breakfast set in the Offley pattern - this pattern is, so far as I can establish, unknown in the United Kingdom - however, Offley is mentioned in The Pottery Gazette in February 1938 and here is the quote - "Chintz patterns have always been a speciality in the Winton Ware, and we are able to announce that three new subjects, all of them hand enamelled, are in the course of preparation, and these will be known respectively as Sandon, Meaford, and Offley" - and here is another quote from Muirel M. Miller's book, Collecting Royal Winton Chintz - "It is, of course, possible that the advent of World War II prevented the issuing of these designs, as potteries were then confined to making only undecorated ware, however, some decorated ware was permitted to be made for export, so it might be that these patterns were made for export only" - extrememly rare Offley came in two colorways these being Brown and Black and I love them both! - when was last time you saw Tiger Lilies in Chintz!?! - this set is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or repairs - item location is Running Springs California United States - listed with a Buy-it-Now price of USD$829.00 = AUD$958.60 - September 2007 Had not sold at Thursday 6th December 2007

Pattern - "Pelham"

NOTE - this is a genuine seven piece set, the same as Auction #25 - one piece missing - plus there is damage Royal Winton breakfast set in the all over floral design called Pelham - this is a lovely set - as you can see, the teapot missing - other tiny teapots would still look good with this set - it is a gorgeous set, with a tray, cup, toast rack, butter dish, milk jug and sugar bowl - there are no breaks or cracks, but there is a little flea bite in the sugar bowl - note added by the seller during the auction - Sorry, but have to add that I have dropped the toast rack and it has had a clean break and I have glued it back and it does not detract from the cute little thing and I have made a very good job but is now damaged - item location is Wide Bay-Burnett Queensland Australia - listed with a starting price of AUD$65.00 - October 2007 Final selling price - AUD$151.00

A Royal Winton Red Roof complete breaskfast set on tray - the set consists of a teapot in the Countess shape which is impressed to base, teacup, milk jug, sugar bowl, two slice toast rack and tray - this complete breakfast set is in very good condition with some fine clean crazing to some pieces - it would be an excellent addition to any Royal Winton Red Roof collection - backstamp reads Royal Winton Made in England 'A' - the tray is approx 26cm handle to handle and approx 22cm across - teapot is approx 13cm spout to handle and approx 11cm tall to top of lid - tea cup is approx 7cm high and approx 9cm diameter excluding handle - milk jug is approx 6cm high - sugar bowl is approx 3cm high and approx 5cm diameter - toast rack is approx 5cm high, approx 7cm long and approx 6cm wide - all items are free from chips, cracks and repairs - and there is no discolouration - item location is Wondai Queensland Australia - listed with a starting price of AUD$695.00 - October 2007 Final selling price - AUD$735.50
