In the Tradition of a true family business, Don Sheil has passed onto his son Mark, the skills of generations of metal artisans

Using a special alloy, together they created the Don Sheil Collection, with designs inspired by the shapes, textures and patterns of nature

The pieces present with an exquisite silver appearance, melding function, beauty and artistry, to establish a range of tableware that is perfect for today's lifestyle

Skilled craftsmen work to a standard of excellence which dictates that each item be hand made and signed with the Don Sheil trademark signature

This individuality destines the work to find it's way into the homes of collectors and those with an appreciation of a product which is both practical and unique

Mark Sheil is the beneficiary of generations of skills - a link in the chain of a dynasty of metal artisans
The timeless pieces of tableware he creates are the continuing legacy of this family tradition

Mark's father, Don Sheil, a silver-smith of great vision, had experimented with various metals, but was disappointed with their limitations
It was not until he tapped into the versatility of high purity aluminium, that he really began to appreciate its potential
As an engineer, artist and master craftsman, he developed the alloy to a point, where inspiration and technology could be translated into functional design

Thus, on the 1st January 1971, the Don Sheil range was launched

Through this period of development, his son Mark, watched and learned
It was already obvious that he had the creative skills to compliment those of his father, but he was practical as well, and very quickly demonstrated his technical aptitude to work with such a sensitive metal

So, a great team was formed - and it flourished for the next twenty years

It was agreed that a standard of excellence must be attained and continually challenged
To achieve this, each Don Sheil item is hand made and carries the maker's trademark signature

Each craftsmen instrumental in making a Don Sheil piece has had the benefit of Don or Mark's experience and further contribute to it's unique quality

Many designs have been inspired by nature's textures and patterns, so, as in nature, no two pieces will ever be the same
Collectors appreciate this, and although an item will be greatly admired, it is also designed to be used

Mark continues to maintain this tradition of excellence established over so many years, creating versatile, enduring designs, perfect for today's lifestyle

The Don Sheil Collection is the culmination of skills acquired over three generations of the Sheil family as metal artisans

Mark Sheil is now the master craftsman who carries on the tradition of excellence, which hallmarks these pieces as collectors' items

This beneficial range can have individual patterns hand drawn, be hand beaten or acid etched and anodically finished

No two pieces will be exactly alike, so variations characteristic of handcrafting may be apparent

Made from a unique alloy, each item has the enduring beauty of silver without the drawbacks
It will not tarnish or impart a metallic taste, nor will it be affected by salad dressing, mustard or wine
It may be put in the freezer or taken straight from the oven to the table

Your Don Sheil pieces are made to be used - not just admired
You will find they are equally at home in a formal dining setting, or beside the pool for an alfresco luncheon

You are buying individuality when you purchase a Don Sheil Item
