(Return to "Mum's Funeral" albumn)

Note to Tanya and Brett

Hi.
Terry rang last night.
My Mum died at around ten o'clock.
There is no need to feel unhappy about it.
She had lived a long life, and was able to see all her children grow up, get married and begin their own lives.
And she was very interested in you two and was always asking how you were going.
Her "quality of life" had deteriorated very rapidly over the last few months---the Alzheimer's Disease had advanced to the stage where she wasn't aware of her surroundings, and did not even recognise Terry when he visited---and the lung cancer had also spread very quickly.
She was on morphine right to the end to keep her pain free, and Terry said she just closed her eyes and went away.
She was a good lady, and loved you both very much.
Love,
Dad.

Note from Tanya

I am really sorry about Nannie.

Note from Fiona

Dear Geoff
Sorry to hear about your Mum, but as you said it is not a time to be unhappy, she obviously needed to go.
I'm sure you and Sharon and the kids have some good memories of her.
Love
Fiona
