(Return to "2002 Senators" albumn)

Sunday 1st September 2002 - Home game against The Reading Phillies

By winning this game, the Senators clinched a spot in the Eastern League playoffs!!!

Brett did not get a hit, but drove in a run with a sacrifice-fly

Exceprts from game reports

(1). The Phils threatened to tie it in the fourth, when Nate Espy led off with a blast that backed left fielder Brett Roneberg to the wall, but he made the catch.

(2). The Senators clinched it with a five-run sixth.
Mark Outlaw dug a big hole, walking two and loading the bases.
He turned the mess over to Cary Hiles, who promptly allowed an RBI single, a three-run triple and a sacrifice fly that made it 7-1.

......and we were able to watch the game on Internet Television!!!

Email to Brett during the game

4.18am Monday morning.
Have been trying since three o'clock.

And I have got a picture!!!
And I have sound!!!

BUT
not good news!!!
BECAUSE
the Phillies had loaded bases in the top of the third, and have just scored on a sacrifice fly!!!
1 to nil---Phillies leading!!!

GOOD LUCK, #17!!!
Going back to watch
Bye, bye.

......and another after they won!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THE SENATORS!!!
IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

Internet Television!!!
I saw lots of stuff!!!
Your catch on the fence.
Your hit to deep rightfield corner---and the runner advanced from second to third base.
Your "dribbler" back to the pitcher.
Your sacrifice fly to score Machado.

Lots of good shots of you, especially after the sacrifice fly.
After hitting it, saw you run back to home plate to meet Machado as he came home.
Was real good!!!

Plus, I had to wake Mum at 6.15am, and that was just as the top of the ninth was starting.
So she was able to watch the three outs and all you guys celebrating---plus she saw you a couple of times---which made her happy!!!
(She has to go back to work today!!!)

The picture and sound were excellant---a bit "pissed" it wasn't like that yesterday so Tanya could have seen as well.

As Mummy wrote, congrats also on reaching "300" after yesterday's game.
Today will drop it down a bit, so heaps and heaps and heaps of good luck in the game tomorrow to see if you can finish at "the magical 300" mark!!!

No more games on the Internet TV, but that was a great one to finish on!!!
Bye, bye.

A note from Brett

Glad you got to watch.
Even though I didn't get a hit I did get a sac-fly to help out.
And made a catch against the fence too.

Not a bad day,
but tomorrow it would be nice to get to 300, wouldn't it??

......and from Brett again

Yeh, glad you got to see it all.
Was a fun game to play in just like last night.
No hits but I will be back at them tomorrow.
Glad you got see me on the computer mum.
Did I look healthy enough for you??
