Email from Tanya

Designated Hitter - That is something new isn't it?

Anyway glad you had a win.
Reading lost but I am sure you know that.
I have been watching both games on the internet and I was ringing dad with innings by innings updates of both games!
It was pretty funny.

Anyway...I have one request for you.
Please ensure that you win your next two games before you head home and play Reading.
I am sure that they will lose their next two games and that way you will be further in front and the playoff race won't come down to this:-
You batting with two out and two strikes and loaded bases in the bottom of ninth innings at home against Reading on the September 2

OK?

That would be a little too much to handle
Luv ya!
Tanya.

......and a note to Tanya

Hi,
and that was a good email you wrote to your brudda!!! - quite funny!!!
See you.
Love,
Dad.

Email from Brett - "sick as a dog"

Well I have been gone for a few days I know, but I have good excuses for it all so bear with me.
I think that the last I wrote to you was Monday morning I think.
It started Sunday night.
Started feeling sick as a dog.

Temperature and headache and sweated all night.
Was bloody miserable.

Then I managed to play the game on Monday and got a couple of hits and got through the day ok.

Then a five hour bus ride to Akron.
Was freezing cold,
and I was even sicker.
Drank about 100 bottles of water and it didn't help.
Woke up on Tuesday feeling even worse.

Dave Huppert changed the lineup and let me "dh".
I didn't stretch, throw, or run or anything,
just hit and sat down and then just hit again.

Managed to get one hit but they gave me two somehow.
I lined to right field and the guy trapped it and then the runner was thrown out at second
but it seems as though they gave me a hit but I will take it for sure!!!!!!!
Especially at this stage of the season!!!

We knew straight after the game the Reading lost.
Our radio guy comes in a tells us.

We seem pretty confident and we are playing pretty good,
and if we do make the playoffs we will be playing Akron so it will be nice to beat them up while we are here.

I am still feeling shitty,
and I am guessing that another "dh" is in order.

Dave usually calls before he makes the lineup if he knows you are hurt or something,
so I am guessing he will just "dh" me.
Which is fine with me.

Well that is about it,
I am going to go and eat some food now and then go to the field.
Talk to you soon.
Brett.
