Senators win game,
but lose another pitcher
ERIE -- Harrisburg won
But the Senators lost, too.
They lost another pitcher.
Jeff Bailey's RBI single broke a 6-6 tie in the ninth inning
and lifted Harrisburg past Erie 7-6 last night at Jerry Uht Park.
However, the Senators' roster is about to undergo a significant
shakeup.
On the heels of losing pitcher Donnie
Bridges to the Florida Marlins' organization in a trade,
Harrisburg announced starting pitcher Mark Mangum, a 1997 first-round
pick of the Colorado Rockies, has announced his retirement.
Mangum, acquired by Montreal from Colorado in a 1998 trade, was
the winning pitcher for Harrisburg Tuesday.
The right-hander was 7-5 with a 4.16 earned run average.
Bridges is expected to report to Portland while outfielder Brett Roneberg, the outfielder Montreal received from Florida in the trade, is expected to join Harrisburg (44-33) in Akron this weekend.

Harrisburg loses
game, star pitcher
Even as they were losing last night to the best
team in Class AA, the Senators were suffering another loss to
their pitching staff.
In the midst of their 7-2 loss to the Akron Aeros, the Montreal
Expos placed Harrisburg all-star pitcher Cliff Lee in a four-player
package to the Cleveland Indians that sent pitcher Bartolo Colon,
a player to be named later and cash to the Expos.
Packaged with Lee, who Wednesday was named to next month's Class
AA all-star game, were Expos first baseman Lee Stevens; former
Senators shortstop Brandon Phillips, now with Class AAA Ottawa;
and Class A outfielder Grady Sizemore, the Expos' third-round
selection in the 2000 amateur draft.
Lee, who had been scheduled to start tonight's game here against
the Aeros, was 7-2 in 15 starts for Harrisburg with a 3.23 earned-run
average and an Eastern League-leading 105 strikeouts.
Lee also becomes the third Senators starting pitcher to leave the team this week, which started with the Expos trading Donnie Bridges to the Florida Marlins for Class A outfielder Brett Roneberg rather than risk losing him through waivers.
The day after Bridges was traded, Mark Mangum announced his retirement.
NOTES: Roneberg joined the Senators earlier in the day and went 1-for-3 with a walk. He started in right field, making two catches.
