The Montreal Expos send starter Donnie Bridges to the Florida Marlins for a young outfielder.

Bridges is Traded
The Harrisburg Senators announced today that pitcher Donnie Bridges was traded to the Florida Marlins organization.

Bridges, a former number one prospect for the Montreal Expos, was traded for outfielder Brett Roneberg.

Bridges had failed to get back to his all-star form from the 2000 season at which time he was named to the Eastern League post-season all-star team after posting an 11-7 record and a 2.39 ERA with the Senators.
This season, Bridges was 4-4 with a 6.14 ERA in 14 games.
In 63 innings, he allowed 63 hits, 48 runs, 42 walks and 49 strikeouts.
The Expos designated Bridges for assignment last week.
This process was necessary to remove Bridges from Montreal's 40-man roster.

Roneberg, a native of Australia, played for Jupiter and Calgary this season.
He began his playing time in June and appeared in 15 games with Jupiter (.211, 0, 7) and just three games with Calgary.
The Expos plan on assigning Roneberg to the Harrisburg roster.
However, he will not count against the roster until he reports.
