Saturday 29th June 2013 ... Working Bee
.
Diamond One....and....Diamond Two

Painting the Top Rail of the Home Run Fences

.

NOTE - there are 14 photos on this page and it may take a few extra seconds to completely download
if you have a broadband internet connection, they will not take too long to display ... just be a little patient !!

.

Diamond One

Leon Nelson, the Grounds Controller, suggested this idea and Kahlia Pepper got the 'Paint Brush'

The chosen colour is Bright Yellow and Kahlia started from the rightfield foul pole

.

She went up and down these steps a thousand times !!

.

.

... as she slowly worked across the field ...

... and the '360' sign is at centrefield ... she is nearly half way !!

.

The job is FINISHED !!

These photos do not show the result very clearly

Even though the top rail is only 50mm/60mm in diameter,
the 'yellow line' stands out and is easily visible from the spectator areas

It doesn't play any part in the game because if the ball goes over the fence it's gone
no matter what the colour of the top rail is ... BUT ... it looks great and was a top idea !!

Diamond Two

After finishing, Kahlia moved over to do the same thing on this field

A bit easier here ... the fence is not as high and she didn't have to use the steps
Just dip the brush in the paint, then hold it on the rail and start walking !!

Another Great Result !!

... and something for the Future

These two secondhand light poles were dropped off during today's Working Bee
and they are going to be used as the Foul Ball Poles on the home run fence of Diamond Two
