Austalia Post is losing one of their BEST employees !!

The "Permanent Appointment Offer" above is dated December 1989, but Sharon had worked there for some time before

that on a casual basis

Around twenty five years in total !!

I have spent most of that time making fun of her and her job ... selling stamps !!

But we all know that she has worked her way from just a casual employee up to being the Manager of one of the busiest

Post Offices in Queensland

Her efforts have, quite simply, raised our family during this time ...... and thank you, Sharon

Internal changes within Australia Post led to Sharon's present position disappearing ...... so major decisions needed to be

made, and she has decided to accept the Redundancy Package that was offered to her earlier this year

Her last day with Australia Post will be Wednesday 1st August 2012

In recognition of her service, her Supervisor is flying up from Brisbane to take her out to lunch that day

What is going to happen then ??

Well, not too much is going to be different ... because she has already has been interviewed, and has accepted and signed

an Employment Agreement to be the Manager of the privately owned North Cairns Post Office on Sheridan Street

She starts there on Monday 13th August

Her official hours are from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday ...... there is no Saturday as this branch does not open

Naturally, as Manager, Sharon will need to be there "a bit before eight" and "a little bit after five" each day

Australia Post does not have a performance-based salary scheme ( ridiculous ) but this private branch does, and Sharon is

looking forward to the challenges that this position will offer

All normal benefits will apply ... like superannuation, holiday pay, sick leave, etc, etc

Her salary drops ... actually it drops a lot !! ... but this is something that we have budgeted for and will not be a problem

because we have decided to give up any sort of food and eating !!

Finishes her present postion on the 1st ... starts the new job on the 13th August ...... what is happening for those 12 days ??

She is having a holiday !! ...... and maybe wandering around the dealers looking for a new car !!....

Yes, there has been a bit going on behind-the-scenes
BUT
Sharon's "leaving date" and "starting date" were only confirmed yesterday
In respect to the lunch ... well, there will be no lunch !!
I think you need to read my note below again ...... about our new budget !!
