Diamond One Batter's
Boxes / Home Plate
During March 2010, unfired clay bricks were added to the batter's
boxes to stop the holes being dug and full details
on this work can be seen by clicking HERE and scrolling down the page to Saturday 13th and Monday
15th March 2010
It's time to update these on the right hand side, and after Geoff
cleaned the dirt away from the existing bricks ...
... Ritchie broke up the new ones,
added them where required, wet the area down, and then allowed
the bricks to set
The left hander's box was still okay with only a very shallow
area having been scraped away by the batters
Ritchie and John Tolentini ... with
Kahlia in the background
On Saturday 18th June 2011, coir mats were incorporated into the
mound to alleviate holes being dug by the pitchers
and to try and cut down on general post-game maintenance ... these
proved to be very successful
Naturally, over time some of the mats wore out and these were
removed on Friday 11th May 2012
and full details on this work can be seen by clicking HERE and scrolling down the page
Today these mats were replaced
and the shots show Geoff clearing the area and then positioning
and fixing the mats in place
These critters were digging under
the fence, getting onto the field,
enjoying their dinner on the lush infield grass and were quite
literally, making an 'awful mess' !!
Lengths of steel rod were donated
and Peter Ure and John Tolentini cut and shaped these into pegs
...
.
... and fishing nets were cut into
a suitable size ...
.
... and the nets were then tied
to the fence and pegged to the ground ... hopefully it will solve
the problem of s**t on the field !!
