To All
Queensland Claxton Shield x x x from Peter Yates - Manager |
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
each and every one of you for your efforts during this Claxton
Shield season I am sure that you would all agree that as a team we did not reach our potential and this is something as the manager I must take full responsibility for In saying that I am sure all players gave there all when in between the lines and we should be buoyed by the fact that despite our short comings we still only fell short of the playoffs by one game I understand that for you to compete at this level there is a certain financial and family sacrifice to be made and for that I am sincerely grateful and thank you, youre loved ones and your employer for this time I know many of you will be heading off to the States and other countries in the near future to pursue your professional careers I wish you all the utmost success and hope that you achieve all your goals and remain healthy throughout your respective seasons For those players remaining home I hope your club ball season finishes well and may the best team win As we all know, Brett Roneberg retired from Claxton Shield after the game on Sunday 18th January 2009 Skull, I can only thank you and congratulate you on what was a fantastic career and your contribution to Queensland baseball will be remembered for a long time I trust your life in the work force in Cairns will be as fruitful as your professional baseball career was For those of you who remain in Australia with aspirations to play in the Claxton Shield or National League whatever the case maybe next year, I hope that what we saw from the other states is seen as a benchmark of what we have to do to once again become a force in Australian baseball I know I have come away from this season not only asking many questions of myself but with some answers on what is required to improve I know we need to prepare earlier We need more game time as a team We need to be stronger not only physically but mentally We need to bring back the close knit family feeling of Queensland teams of the past We have to remember that it is no ones given right to play for Queensland but it is a right that it is achieved on the back of hard work and persistence To Yowie, Doc and Gonzo ... I am sure you would all join me in thanking these three men for their time this year I am truly grateful for the support and help as I am sure all the players are Although the season is over Robbo is still working trying to organise a race day for us all prior to the departure of many of you Thank you Robbo for all your help this season as no words can really sum up the amount of work you do and although it may appear to be unnoticed at times I can assure you it is definitely not unappreciated ... thank you I do hope to see you all at the race day so we can farewell the season in a suitable manner Yatesy |
