129 An Ho Road
Taichung Taiwan

This hotel has a good location for access to the local airport, harbor and industrial park

A well-received midrange option for business travelers, the Howard Prince does a brisk business, especially for groups and meetings

The lobby is open and friendly, although sparse
The attentive staff greets guests in a personalized check-in lounge

Glass windows lead from the lobby to the coffee shop to the bar

'Champs Elysees' on the first floor is a good choice for a drink in a modern atmosphere with loads of natural light and sleek furnishings
Snacks, light meals and Cuban cigars are also available

Breakfast, lunch and a dinner buffet are served in 'Mirage'
For Shanghai cuisine, try 'Yangtse River'
'Ocean Reef' serves Taiwanese and Cantonese dishes

Guests have free use of the panoramic fitness center, which is housed in a multimillion-dollar facility with the latest equipment, along with spa treatments and a pool
The children's pool and a massage pool are on the roster, and an aerobics studio is a favorite of health-conscious guests
The most unusual aspect is the hotel's water spa, which boasts eight plunge pools of different temperatures to naturally treat the body -by shocking the circulatory system
A sauna, steam room and pools also do the trick, and the billiard table is available

The largest of nineteen function rooms accommodates 600 people, and 450 can be seated for a meal
The business center offers standard fax and secretarial services, as well as an international courier service on request

Wireless internet access is offered in the public areas
Shuttle service is available (for a fee) to the Taichung airport, and it runs twice daily to the downtown area
The hotel has free ample parking and valet service

The small, quiet rooms are well-decorated with rosewood furnishings
Although contemporary in style, the rooms are Spartan in decor
Amenities include satellite TVs, dual-line IDD phones with voice mail and data ports, minibars, hair dryers and safes
Baths provide separate showers and tubs

Premium suites are in the Rosewood Club, and for the bump in rates, guests enjoy complimentary internet access, upgraded amenities and higher floors with better city views

Three floors are smoke-free, and breakfast is included in most rates

Security is a strong point throughout the property, but maintenance is less stringent

The staff here is friendly and helpful, but communicating in English may pose a problem
This hotel is worth a try, nevertheless, because staffers always greet guests with a smile at the front door, regardless of the hour

Guests with more discriminating taste should try the Landis for a refined experience
