Toledo All Purpose Manual Slicer

Made in Ireland

A note from Geoff

Sharon and I both like a roast dinner ... and we also like corned silverside
Cutting up the leftovers for salads and sandwiches was always a hassle
We used a knife ...... but now we wont have to!!!
Was going to look at new slicers, but the 'retro' look is much better

---The Auction Details

Vintage Toledo All Purpose Manual Slicer

I have for auction this wonderful vintage Toledo All Purpose Slicer
It is white in colour with a stainless steel blade
It has four suction cap feet which stick to the table
This piece is in very good condition
The slicer is a manual unit - it is easy to use - simply turn the handle!!
This is a useful piece to have in a retro kitchen!!

A question I sent to the seller during the auction
Hi, and I have been keeping an eye out for one of these
Sick of cutting up leftover roasts and corned beef using a knife!!
In the photo, the unit looks to be in 'top-notch' condition, but I do have a couple of questions
#1 - does the blade have any spots or rust marks?
#2 - is the blade sharp and ready to go?
#3 - I have looked at a few of this type recently, and all of them had water
damage to the base board and the timber was 'flaking-and-breaking'
In the photo there doesn't appear to be this type of problem,
but is there any of this sort of damage?
Postage would be to Trinity Beach 4879, which is just north of Cairns in Queensland
That's about it, but if you have some available,
would you mind sending me photos from different angles
Our email address is ...... geoff@ronebergcairns.com
Regards, Geoff

......and the reply

I hope they help out
Bye, Vanessa

Another note to the seller
Thanks!!
The photos answered my questions
And I have just placed a bid !!!
Regards, Geoff

......and the reply

Many thanks for placing a bid
Good luck, Vanessa

Vintage food/meat slicer - this has been in the cupboard since forever and I've tried to think back to when it first came into the family and I'm thinking late 1950's but can't be sure - this is a fabulous vintage piece of kitchenalia for those who appreciate the styles of yesteryear - not a huge machine by any means - it has the adjustable settings for the blade - what really catches the eye is the decoration on the base board - the item is working perfectly and is in very good preloved condition - the blade will need a scrub and I haven't touched it at all for the photos - it is perfect without it!! - May 2008
Final selling price - $15.50

Auction #14
Another Toledo slicer
- refer to Auctions #03 and #06 and #10 and #13

Up for grabs is this vintage bread and meat slicer - a useful item from the past! - it is a pretty sky blue in colour with white handle and base - the slicer is a very clean item with melamine folding base and a very sharp stainless steel blade - it also features an adjustable thickness knob and can slice up to 2cm thick approx - there are suction cups on the base to hold the unit firm during slicing which is a good safety feature - this unit is in full working order - there is a sticker displaying "Made in the Republic of Ireland Stainless Steel Blade" - engraved on the blade is "Solingen Rost Fret" - the measurements are 9.5cm wide and 18cm tall - it is in excellent condition considering it's age!! - there are some expected surface scratches and marks - there is an empty slot or opening on the side of the thickness adjuster which I am not sure of its purpose, but it does not affect the slicers performance! - this unit looks barely used and as already stated, the blade is very sharp! - it would look lovely on display in a country style kitchen or very handy for that home made bread!! - May 2008
Final selling price - $31.00

Auction #17
Don't like the 'big board' - prefer the base that folds up

For auction this very retro vintage meat and bread slicer - its colour is orange with both a white handle and adjustable blade dial, and this was the 70's colour decor at the time - unlike some that fold this slicer is on one large piece of partical board with a white laminex on top and underneath - there are six suction cups underneath to hold firmly in place - the brand is Geka and on the blade it says "Edel Stahl Rost Frei" and I would imagine it is German maybe - the slicer does have a couple of mild marks and a plastic strip on the dial side is missing, but should be easy to replace - the blade is 17cm across and has a serated edge - the handle is made from plastic - May 2008
Final selling price - $19.00
