Australia is likely to field a near full-strength
team for the return clash with Chinese Taipei at Geelong Baseball
Centre on Sunday night
Baseball Victoria spokesman Rob Cioffi said manager Jon Deeble
was likely to have a core group of seven established players as
the base for the team
"That group would be complemented by those being considered
for selection for the World Baseball Classic in Florida next month"
Cioffi said
He expected Australia to field one of their best line-ups
"Among the stars for
Geelong fans to watch are infielder Justin Huber, outfielder Tom
Brice, infielder Brad Harman, utility Brett Roneberg and infielder
Luke Hughes" he said
"They are just the hitters
And pitchers Craig Anderson and Phil Stockman are Silver Medallists
from Athens as well"
Sunday's match, which starts at 7.30pm at Geelong Baseball Centre,
is the eighth and final match of the Financial Wealth International
Challenge between Australia and Taipei
Australia held on to an 11-10 win at Waurn Ponds on Wednesday
night to take a 3-1 lead in the series
Cioffi said Taipei's fightback showed the team was obviously treating
the series seriously
Australia will play the visiting Chiba Lotte Marines on Monday
night, starting at 7.30pm, and on Tuesday, starting at 3.00pm
