2006 Financial Wealth Baseball Challenge

Geelong Baseball Centre
Melbourne - Victoria

(six photos)

The Centre is a five-diamond complex that incorporates three relatively new diamonds (built in 2002) and two previously established diamonds within the same precinct

The new fields include a main diamond constructed to international standards, featuring award winning field lighting, sunken dugouts, a large LCD scoreboard and elevated bullpens positioned that extend on the first and third base lines

The playing surfaces for all three new diamonds is considered to be the best in the country

It is anticipated that the established diamonds will be soon renovated to bring their surfaces up to a similar standard

The Geelong Baseball Centre boasts one of the highest standard baseball facilities in the country - and it will continue to improve as further infrastructure is included over time

The main pavilion has been constructed to cater for various uses - centred mostly on baseball of course!
From the local club domestic competition to national and international tournaments, the pavilion offers a spacious sixty seat open area for catering purposes, administration and storage rooms, bar and canteen amenities, and able and disabled toilet facilities

When extra space is required, marquees can be added to the open terrace next to the pavilion - an option that not only increases functionality but also one that creates a carnival-like atmosphere that provides a greater enjoyment factor for the avid baseball patron

The viewer friendly terraces offer a great elevated view of the action on the main diamond

Individual team change-rooms, a medical amenities office, an umpire’s room and a four person elevated scorers/announcers box that allows clear view of the field of play complements the main pavilion

A second pavilion that serves the two established diamonds of the five-diamond complex is located adjacent to the main centre
This building increases the Centres flexibility to cater for larger off-field social events
It includes a well-appointed kitchen/canteen area and bar facilities
